"How DARE Trump try to slow down the steady flow of future Democrat voters streaming across the border daily!", an enraged lady named "Nancy" was overheard saying.

The republican majority house rejected the $5.7B deal. Bipartisan Senate deal was passed. But the house wouldn't bring up that bill.

At this point it’s clear the Dems are not interested in governing. We are in a state of national emergency...time for trump to act

If we did do what Trump proposed on his website(to essentially tax the money Mexican residents was sending out to Mexico), the cry of "racist" would be heard from a mile away probably. But at this point, it doesn't matter. Trump should take advantage of his unpopularity to take the most radical legal measures.

McConnell: The President Stepped Up with Bold Plan to Re-Open Government, Fund Border Security
‘Everyone has made their point—now it’s time to make a law. I intend to move to this legislation this week. With bipartisan cooperation, the Senate can send a bill to the House quickly so that they can take action as well. The situation for furloughed employees isn’t getting any brighter and the crisis at the border isn’t improved by show votes. But the President’s plan is a path toward addressing both issues quickly.’

I thought it was the 5.7 B deal that passed in the Republican majority house.

You should read a certain book - "The Art of the Deal", I think it's called, since you don't appear to understand Negotiating 101.

As McConnell said, the art of compromise is that not everyone is happy. This is a bill that Trump endorses, and would open up the government. If Pelosi refuses, she now owns the shutdown.

If Democrats don't take Trump up on this offer or at least use it as a starting point in negotiations they will lose the Hispanic vote for decades
But their unhinged Trump hate will have them cut off their nose to spite their face
Pelosi would rather give up the Hispanic vote then give Trump a win

Whereas I do not believe that President Trump always delivers an excellent speech, I do believe that this does rise to the level of excellence.

The Democrats are now left with just two possibilities: Either accept the president's proposal (which Nancy Pelosi has, in fact, speedily rejected), or reveal themselves as pure obstructionists.

The latter will no doubt play well with their own base. But I doubt that it will do so well with independents.

I think this may have been a miscalculation on Pelosi's part. Three year protection puts us well past 2020, and if the Dems can't beat Trump in 2020, they should just roll it up as a party.

On the other hand, I doubt anyone's mind will really change, and Pelosi may be going for a "maximum pain" strategy: the economy will eventually weaken from this, and Trump will be forced to give more concessions. A lot of people would have to suffer for that to happen, so I oppose it, even if it would mean a better deal.
