Agreed. Perhaps that will happen at the SOTU address.

The 5th circuit is ready to take any resultant lawsuit-and if they do it first, the bat **** 9th circuit wont be able to do anything about it.

Then the wall is funded, dreamers go home, and dems will have to do some serious explaining to their constituents.

And he can leave the govt closed as suits him.

How do you bargain with an individual that refuses to hear a vote on a bill that has previous passed unanimously and another individual that says he will not negotiate?

Must be some ancient con logic in there somewhere.

No, but a president being elected against the wishes of the people is however, right reverend?

Trump is still using shutdown as leverage and negotiation cannot happen under these conditions.

Open the government. Then we'll look at the deal of dreamer protection in exchange for wall.

You just claimed that Trump did not shut the government down and doesn't have the power to shut the government down.

Would you like to check the Democrat Party talking-points and repost?

the people alone don't elect our president our individual states have a voice in the process its why we are called the United States of America and not Just America
go back to school and learn some civics
I know you would rather live under a tyrannical majority which only a dozen or so big cites control the nation

So surprise, Trump is not a great deal making negotiator. He has framed a big bluster bully style chest shoving and shouting position from which neither side can now back down and save face. Today he just went with a ‘more of the same’ approach he’s been taking, offering an incremental ’how about 10 cents on the dollar instead of 9’, with the same lack of results he has had for the last 29 days. He now needs to grow a pair, and own the fact that he played the ”shut down the government” card, not the Democrats ("I am proud to shut down the government "). He could take the high road, admit that yes he thought that approach would work, but he made a rare mistake, finding out to his absolute surprise that the “radical Democrats” didn’t seem to care after all about the financial harm now befalling the rank and file government workers. He could point out that although he did campaign on building a wall, for which funding he is still resolute, more importantly he ran on a platform that he was going to make life better for the worker bees, not worse. So he states he is still absolutely solid on getting the WALL funding, but he offers to reopen the government with funding for everything but the $5.7B WALL funding, then explains he/GOP will now block all legislation and protection for DACA and TDS funding bills (which the Dems DO care about) until he does get his WALL funding, which he could more broadly reframe as “border security” then define it as “new and replacement physical barriers, enhanced detection and surveillance technology, increased border patrol staffing, increased staffing for legal mechanisms to process applicants, improved detention and holding centers, improved ports of entry, etc”, for which he now wants $10B. Then he can hold the line on ‘my WALL’ funding by offering something that Democrats actually want, ie protection for existing immigrants and the possibility for some path to citizenship (not a bad thing for mostly smart and industrious minors brought here and assimilated years ago). If he wants to stay ‘bad ass’, he could even threaten to escalate via executive orders illegal immigrant deportation proceedings, etc to the full extent that courts will allow if the Dems don’t pull up to the negotiations table chop chop and give him his WALL funding. Then he can actually at least pretend he is trying to pull the government together into a working system that can solve problems, instead of continuing the divisive and dysfunctional logjam that it is now.

Obviously it can't happen without willingness on the part of the Democrats.

Would we be seeing this much attention on a very important issue, had Hillary won?

I never said trump shut it down, for him to do so he would have to veto a bill that mitch is refusing to floor to protect his king.

Please direct quote me where I said trump doesn’t have the power to shut the government down, once you find your long lost integrity.

No, she in fact voted for a barrier on the border in 2006...wouldn’t be an issue if she wanted to actually fund it today

Ball in the Democrats court, you and they can continue to play politics or get the government open, the Dreamers out of jeopardy and more border security.
