You may have seen this, piers Morgan argues with a "non binary" advocate.

He holds this guy's feet to the fire. All the advocate does is inside that he's right.

Worth the watch if you haven't seen it.

I agree mostly with the lady named India. And definitely Morgan.

The advocate seems utterly mad.

Well they weren’t going to invite anyone one who could have presented a valid argument against Morgan on his own show. He’s doing his job of deliberately spinning up controversy to attract attention to the show and his own brand. It doesn’t really have anything to do with LGBT individuals, they’re just the tool he is using today.

 

Such a person probably doesn't exist. A hundred genders? That's absurd.

It doesn't have anything to do with anybody except these lunatics that believe they're are hundreds of genders.

It's really just an argument against madness. Like bringing a flat Earth type on.

 

What is absurd exactly? First you need to identify someone saying anything about “a hundred genders” and listen to what they’re actually saying (rather than presuming what they’re saying). I totally recognise that there are loads of idiots, trolls, self-identifying spokespeople and so-called journalists out there saying all sorts of stupid things for various reasons but that doesn’t make any discussion on a similar topic areas automatically stupid.

Again though, this was never about a discussion of the actual topic, it was about attracting attention to Morgan and his TV show.

I don't think the discussion is stupid. It's just that you can't show me that there's hundreds of genders. Nobody can.

You missed my point. I was asking you identify them and their actual arguments here. After all, if I mentioned "this nonsense about criminalising transgenders", you'd expect me to back it up.

For what it's worth, I don't think there are "hundreds of genders" but I also don't think that's what the guy in the video was trying to say.

You were discussing how it was debated on the TV show and I explained why I think it was debated in that manner. I'm more than happy to move on from it for that very reason though.

I didn't hear the proponent use that phrase though, only the people arguing against him. If I missed it you'll have to point out a timestamp in the video.

Anyway, "hundreds of genders" isn't an argument, it's just a statement. What he seemed to be saying (though the video seems to cut in after the start of the discussion) is that people shouldn't be abusive and offensive towards individuals because of their gender identity, regardless of how you might feel about the entire concept. I got the impression he was responding to something Piers Morgan had said previously but that wasn't directly mentioned or shown.

In general, the video doesn't frame a clear topic of discussion (it's called "Should Piers Morgan be fired" but doesn't really cover that) so I think you'd need to add more if you want to use it as a basis for something more meaningful.

Arguments are sets of statements, like "If we do X, Y will happen because of Z" or "Someone said X but I think Y because of Z".

I don't think anyone here is saying there are "hundreds of genders" but even if they do say that, so what? What I do think they're saying is that people shouldn't be abused, insulted or attacked simply because they identify in a manner you don't agree with. Those are two elements that could be debated but feel free to raise the aspects you wanted to discuss instead.
