In general I am OK with the use of quid pro quo in government as our relationships with other countries is transactional. With that said not all quid pro quo’s are ethical or legal. I stand resolutely against any quid pro quo that involves an investigation into a political rival as those who have a vested interest in the outcome of an investigation should play no part in said investigation. To do otherwise is unethical as it openly invites bias into the investigation. Republicans do a good job at pointing out the bias of the left yet protect a biased president who is using the Office of the President to dig up dirt on a political rival. That is hypocrisy.

If Obama did what Trump did (many on the right say he did) the right would stand against it. But when it is a Republican that is investigating a political rival then it is OK. Tribalism, where there is one set of rules for the “in” group and another for the “out” group. This applies to the left as well.
