I have not traced my family tree. My father is originally Dutch (That is Caucasian western European) and my mother is ethnically a Malay Indonesian. I identify more with my Malay identity in terms of where I come from and where I live. However I identify with Dutch cultural values in the importance of being punctual and being secular in my thinking.

I don't have many friends, but I don't think I'd go looking for my 'tribe' if I were to move to another country. For example: I wouldn't go looking for the nearest Dutch or Indonesian community if I were to move to the United States just to be close to my 'tribe' or even the nearest Lutheran church as I was raised Lutheran. I would find friends based on shared interest (example: a book club or a bird watching group) and to some extent shared political values.

My wife is from the Philippines. Born in Zambales and grew up in Pampanga. All her family are from Pampanga.

Her maternal grandfather was 25% Chinese and 25% negrito(native black Filipino). He had a very dark brown complexion.

Her half Chinese maternal great grandfather was over 6 feet tall very unusual for a Filipino. Her 4 brothers are all taller than the average Filipino ranging in height from 5'9 to 5'11. My son who is 16 is 6 foot tall.
