    They weren’t exactly chain ganged, they were in air conditioned houses in a pleasant little area where they had freedom to walk around and it was TWO WEEKS. I know that some see that as an eternal damnation but….

    I cannot count the number of times I have been told we are an “all white nation”. But then given this reaction - what else can you expect?

    That's truly appalling.
    Obviously they only show the dumbest people but to stand in front of a map of the world and proclaim with a smile on your face that you can't even name a single country never mind point to one. One couldn't even locate the US and in fact pointed at Russia.
    It would be an epic facepalm moment but she probably couldn't find her face.

    Luckily, Cornwallis was having problems with his radar so we could get them through...

    If God wanted people to drink warm beer, he wouldn't have allowed the invention of refrigeration...

    I like a lot of concepts from Britain, but that ain't one of them...

    You do know that warm beer is a myth?
    The recommended temperature to serve ale is 10C or 50F. That's just a few degrees higher than your fridge.
    That's why we have to keep it in the cellar.
    I doubt you'd call your coffee or your swimming pool warm if it was 50F.

    Well, perhaps the problem the one time I tried Guinness is that it just sucks.... warm, cold or in between...

    However, when I was in Ireland many moons ago, I was introduced to a heavenly concoction called Harp.... Still occasionally pick up a 6 pack here in the US for special events... and I put each bottle in the freezer for 45 mins before drinking... that should tell you my preferred beer temp...

    Do you realise that…

    1. Transportation of convicts to Australia ceased in the 1860’s…!
    2. A similar number of convicts were transported to AMERICA, prior to the war of independence….you want to talk “penal colonies”…??

    The MODERN nation of Australia was built by the successive waves of migrants to this country from Ireland, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Germany, the Balkans and more recently, from South-East Asia and the Middle East. And from Great Britain, of course.

    Please educate yourself…

    Which ceased in the 1860’s…….while America was still conducting witch trials…! And KEEPING SLAVES…!

    Approximately 160,000 convicts were transported to Australia over the 80 years of the practice. Estimates are that approximately 120,000 convicts were transported to the “prison colony” of America…!

    Tell me if I'm wrong, but one of the main differences between the US and Australia today is that your country is not afraid to learn about your sketchy past.... many in my country are....

    I think that may be right, on our part at least. There was a time when it was considered embarrassing to admit that you had a convict forebear, or an Irishman in your background, but now most people embrace the idea that their family has deep historical links. We also don’t seem to be as phobic in permitting discussions of race to take place in our schools.

    Since you are my favorite (only?) PF.com Brit, what have you to say on YOUR goofy haired PM's political issues with parties? LOL...

    My first impression is that compared to some of the crap OUR goofy haired dipstick did, including 2 he was impeached for, BoJo's seem to be pretty small potatoes...

    Am I wrong? Is anybody REALLY pissed at this guy??
