What does "recommended in 2020" mean? It turns out that what was recommended doesn't work. It's becoming more and more apparent that we can refrain from gatherings for 50 years and Covid is going to do what Covid is going to do. Why should he be blamed for doing something that doesn't matter? May as well say, "You got Covid eh? See, you should have never left your house!"

So "his fault" and "irresponsible" are entirely different concepts; therefore, I had no right to say the poster said it was his fault? Gotcha...

    Oh sigh…

He was not criticised for “catching the virus” as you claimed…he was criticised for “complacency for organising an unofficial charity event – in Belgrade, Zadar and Montenegro (subsequently cancelled) – without safety protocols applicable in most other countries and which have prevented resumption of the main Tour until August.”

I’m sure you can see the difference…if you try really hard.

No I only see degrees of fear with no real principles. You say that people shouldn't have been out organizing charity events because it's irresponsible. But it could also be said that it's irresponsible to leave home for ANYTHING that isn't a necessity. Who is right?

    Oh yeah, they're pissed.
At a time when people weren't allowed to visit dying relatives in hospital the guys who made the rules were partying.
The day before the Queen had to sit all on her own at the funeral of Prince Phillip they were gathering for drinks.
When people were being prosecuted for breaking the rules they were having a knees up.
We're up to about a dozen illegal parties now, that's the ones we know about.

Now it's coming out that they were bullying fellow Tories and threatening to release compromising info about rebels calling for a vote of no confidence. One senior Tory even used the word ''blackmail'' and recommended anyone threatened should talk to the police.
The former Brexit minister David Davis compared the situation to Chamberlain in 1940 and said, in Parliament, ''for God's sake go ''.

Labour now have a 14% lead in the polls.

Boris has been caught out in lie after lie trying to cover his arse.

It's no longer a matter of ''if'' he's going to go but ''when''.

His career is dead, it has shuffled off its mortal coil, it is no more, it's gone to meet its maker, it is an ex-career, it's deader than a Norwegian Blue parrot.

Meh... I still say PartyGate doesn't hold a candle to most of the crap we went through, but see ya Boris...

Your guy was clueless and tone deaf.... our guy was corrupt to the core, using his position to screw an ally and then lead sedition.... it's apples and Buicks...

But I salute you guys for having the ability to boot somebody midstream... we cannot seem to get that part figured out...

    Who's next up? Labour? Starmer?

No, next general election is still 2 years away.
Most likely he gets ditched by his own party and we get a new Tory PM.
He's an election liability now so he'll be dumped before the next party conference in the autumn.
The chancellor of the exchequer, Sunak, is the current favourite to replace him.

Did you try the hockey link btw?
I'm checking out the Dallas game atm to see what this Klinsberg defender is like as the rumours are flying about a trade to the Leafs.

I'm watching it now... pretty nice.... thanks for the tip.... I still need to test if I can get my local Cappies, because it's almost impossible and my satellite provider took them away last year... will try over the weekend...

Klingberg is pretty good, but I hope he doesn't go to Tor, as I own Rielly on my fantasy team... will probably take some ice time/power play time away...

The "when" is starting to sound like later rather than sooner, per this article

    https://www.newstatesman.com/politi...d-boris-johnson-yet-survive-as-prime-minister

I hate to compare everything in the world to T****, but immediately after 1/6, many in his own party were ready to cut him loose, and now they are back on their knees.....

    Time changes perceptions...

Your whataboutism only shows how you are desperate to hide the facts about the prison colony.

Simple delaying tactic, ''wait for the report, wait for the report''.
Trouble is, when the report comes out it all starts over again for Boris. This time with evidence from the report.

The big difference is that Trump is still seen as an election asset, a vote winner.
Boris doesn't have that in his favour.

Hiding nothing. As I said earlier, Australians are comfortable to embrace ALL of their history...you should try it.

Excellent! So, assuming you’re from the US, like me you would embrace the fact that when you were simply a collection of British colonies you were a “penal colony”….yes? But, once we became sovereign nations, that cruel practice had ceased….right?

Unfortunately for you, the other fact that has to be embraced is that, after you had become a sovereign nation, you CHOSE to be a ‘witch hunting colony’ and a ‘slaving colony’….pretty embarrassing huh…?

Oh dear…..doesn’t know/doesn’t WANT to know his own history….

“From the early 1600s until the American Revolution of 1776, the British colonies in North America received transported British criminals.”

“The British Empire used North America as a penal colony through a system of indentured service; North America's province of Georgia was originally established for such purposes. British convicts would be transported by private sector merchants and auctioned off to plantation owners upon arrival in the colonies.”

LOL! I am sure at one time every British territory received criminals but Australia ended up being designated for them.

Nope, still wrong. The European settlement of what was later to become the nation of Australia was primarily through the migration of FREE SETTLERS…

While the very first couple of hundred arrivals were indeed convicts and military personnel (850 in number), this tiny population was very quickly overtaken by an influx of free settlers who steadily developed the country…

Australia from 1780 to 1860, in terms of being a ‘penal colony’ was virtually identical to America up to 1776. In fact, Americans should owe a debt of gratitude to the young Australian colonies, as they replaced the convict transportation that had been taking place in Nth America for the previous 150 years…

We couldn’t help you out with your slavery and witch-hunting scandals, however…..

I see you choose to believe alt-history. Oh well, whatever it takes for you to tolerate the past of Australia. Soon China will be in charge of Australia then it will not matter.
