    ROFL!

Which is funny, because half the time I have people scream at me I am a "neocon". Of course, the other half largely scream I am some kind of Marxist.

Of course, I also tend to laugh at any that use such terminology when describing sides in an issue. It only tells me to be honest if I agree with their "side" or not, and that the actual issue does not matter.

But here is the flip side. Ukraine has recently been in active talks and may finally get off the fence and join NATO. Their population has now largely moved to support joining the organization, and they are trying to build closer ties with their NATO neighboring states. And if they do join NATO, at that point the "gloves come off", and an attack against Ukraine is an attack against the US and all other member-states.

Or they can try and make their case in the CIS. Demand that the other nation-states of that organization rise to their defense.

The 28 member nations of NATO have to all agree to all Ukraine to join.

and several of them do not want to piss off the Russians.

There is little that Russia can do to shoot down our stealth bombers, or to prevent our stealth bombers from destroying Russian targets with impunity.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
If they try, they will find our stealth bombers ranging throughout their skies and bombing them with impunity.

To be honest, I bet a lot will be a lot less worried once this all comes to an end. If anything, by doing this Putin himself did the largest advertising possible for nations on the fence to now join NATO. The Russian bear has been dormant for too long, and they have been Finlandizing their neighbors for decades. Seeing the Western Nations banding behind Ukraine will likely help, even if they do not become directly involved but only provide aid. As the history with Russia is that such aid only comes with a velvet lined glove around the throat.

Putin whines that the break up of the Soviet Union was 'the greatest disaster of the century', and starts picking off neighbors one by one. He can stopped now, or the west can retake the same ground over at a much higher cost later, because when he gets Ukraine, Hungary is next, and so on. It's stupid to worry about nukes at this late date and cringe under your beds; proliferation has made it just a matter of when, not if, somebody lets nukes fly, and in any case our capabilities don't require us to respond with nukes; that would likely be France and/or Britain, both of whom have more aggressive nuclear policies than the U.S.

The Ukraine can also at least double its forces with enough supplies rushed in.

War is the answer to every question

A really big nuclear war could be the final answer to every question

Letting these thug regimes run around looting their neighbors while doing nothing for decades until they get to be big countries is how you get big wars, which is why it is far better to stop them while they're still little, but hippies and isolationists insist on ignoring history and then repeating it over and over.
