I beg to differ. It is very common for assault survivors to recant their statements because of the public backlash. For all the big talk, we really don't care about victims of crimes. Beyond that, there are often backdoor deals to make a story disappear so she may not necessarily have been brainwashed to believe anything. It's more likely that she received some kind of "stipend" for her trouble. Don't believe it's possible? Take a ride over to Google and look at all the times someone publicly stated they were victims of racism. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that ALL of them can't be lying. I know it's a fact because I faced backlash for not being willing to discriminate against my employees and it was hushed up and I was sidelined. The whole purpose is to give the impression that racism doesn't exist and people constantly lie about it. No, they don't but as long as we can publicly pretend like it's not real, we don't have try to sort it out. Another eye-opener. Check out all the cases against pedophile priests. All of those people can't be lying also and the Vatican has spent centuries and millions, if not billions, to pretend like it never happened. They just moved the priests around to different parishes to keep it hush-hush. So, no. I doubt very seriously that she lied or that she developed amnesia. She received something (maybe money, maybe threats against her loved ones, maybe threats against her or her career trajectory), but *something* caused her to want to minimize this story in the media.
