Maybe you missed it but guns have one purpose. To kill things. Handguns are meant primarily to kill human beings.

Fire extinguishers have one purpose. To put out fires.

How can you compare putting out fires to killing human beings?

There are many "bad" uses for guns....but virtually none for fire extinguishers

Examine my last post a little more carefully. I point out that these laws are not going to be passed unless a majority of the people, and that naturally INCLUDES the gun owners, supports them. Do you honestly think a whole lot of gun owners are going to shoot people for trying to enforce laws that even most of THEM support?

 

Again, another responsible gun owner whose main argument for him to have guns is veiled death threats. Isn't that just the kind of person we DON"T want to be armed.?

Here's a fact we can all agree on; yesterday, and everyday prior(since reaching this number) there were over 300,000,000 guns in the US that were not and had not been used in a crime, suicide, or negligent way. The monumental majority of gun owners remained law abiding.
Liberals would enjoy there being no guns in the US, just as they would enjoy there being no death penalty in the US. Their argument against capital punishment is generally "if it saves one innocent life...". Why do gun owners not get the same treatment? There is an unfathomable amount of instances where a gun has been used to stop a violent crime. Their stance of "saving an innocent life" is apparently used when it suits their agenda. Why the double standard?
I believe it's the "poor me, I'm offended" mentality. Liberal tolerance is a thing of the past.

Nothing you posted changes the fact that guns cause exactly 0 deaths per year, and so any claim of any number of deaths caused by guns derives from ignorance or dishonesty.

And your comparison to the capital punishment argument is misleading...as capital punishment has to do with the validity and objective efficiency of the legal system AFTER SOMEONE HAS BEEN CHARGED AND TRIED WITH A CRIME. Gun control is about making it just that much harder for criminals to obtain guns.

Again, who said anything about disarming anyone? I merely point out 6 ways to Sunday that you are NOT guaranteed a gun just because you are a citizen....to use your analogy, there were rules and regulations as to type of weapon, ammo, up-keep, etc. No small price in those days, so NOT EVERYONE OWNED GUNS THAT MET THOSE REQUIREMENTS. You got one to specifications, you signed up to the militia formally. Read the subsequent Militia laws as well.
