IF there was any honesty in the statement "Those who see to reduce unprecedented slaughter" it would be referring to the people and arms that defend against violence, not the ability to do so.
IF it were possible to pass a law that all would obey- just pass a law against murder.... Which I doubt you realize already exists, nor understand that people with criminal intent don't give a damn about the laws.

To believe that guns kill people without a person bent on violence using them would be the height of stupidity.
If guns killed, then if no people could access them, no killing would occur- and of course, killing has been part of human nature since time began.

If people kill, then the presence of a gun or any other instrument that can be used as a weapon is irrelevant. There are many, many ways to kill- including mass murders- without the use of firearms. I won't list any, because I don't care to give ideas to anyone. People kill with or without weapons. They their bare hands- they strangle, beat, stomp, and find endless ways to be violent. Get rid of the real source of violence- Violent people. They are here ONLY because you fail recognize that they are the threat, and that what ever they may choose as a weapon is irrelevant- and they do not need a weapon at all. We even block the reporting of people who are mentally at high risk for becoming murderers, so that they might be prohibited from buying guns. We simply refuse to recognize that people who are irrational present the risk-
AND TAKING THAT POSITION IS IRRATIONAL AS IT KEEPS THE REAL RISK IN PLACE. There is a reason why we don't arrest the car when a death occurs involving a drunk driver. Sadly, the holophobics can't make the same connection when it comes to guns. That is irrational too.

To believe that guns serve a purpose of protection is absolutely true, and without question. To believe that criminals prefer to attack unarmed victims is absolutely true, and without question. To believe that hostile nations take the arms that a nation and it's people have into consideration of what they dare do- is absolutely true, and without question.

The main thing here that is questionable is why some people aren't smart enough to understand these clear and logical facts, and continue to fear inanimate objects, to believe that if a particular weapon was not available, a person bent on killing you would simply say- "Oh shucks, I can't get a gun so I'll for get it". You have got to be really, really stupid to believe that.

If you need to play the race card, and you need to blame non-white Americans, target whomever you need to.

You can parrot the party line, but intelligent Americans aren't buying it.

Most Americans, including NRA members, support realistic measures such as universal background checks to reduce the horrific frequency of firearm fatalities in America.

States with strict gun laws have fewer firearms deaths.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/27/sta...ms-deaths-heres-how-your-state-stacks-up.html

States with higher levels of household gun ownership have higher levels of firearm crime.

Majority of NRA members support background checks for guns

Parrot? You think that because you have heard those things before, they have become untrue?
OF COURSE they are true, and any rational, logical person can see it without it being spelled out. ARE YOU RATIONAL AND LOGICAL??

    Think a bit further.

"States with higher levels of household gun ownership have higher levels of firearm crime."
It stands to reason that states with higher levels of firearms crime would have more people owning firearms to defend themselves from that crime.

"Majority of NRA members support background checks for guns"
Members do support background checks- but that has been in places for decades. The question of what should be supported is the same as the question of what will work to deter criminals- and imposing on law-abiding citizens DOES NOT FIT THE OBJECTIVE.
Anti-gun people fear the gun, not the criminal- and it it the gun they want to destroy.

"Majority of anti-gun people do not care about stopping the criminals who commit crimes and murder- they are stupid enough to think that the guns ARE the criminals".

I understand your reluctance to honestly confront the NRA scandal, but the exposure of the lavish spending by Fancy Pants LaP and the boys cannot now be swept under the carpet.

Dues-paying members have been fleeced, and their interests have not been served.

The elites who have been running this scam have nowhere to hide, and have begun savaging one another.

    Progress is now inevitable.

The corrupt NRA spent more than $21 million in the last presidential election promoting Trump: $9.6 million on ads and other pro-Trump materials, and another $12 million attacking Hillary Clinton. How much of that had come from Russia via banker/Duma member/Mafia leader/money launderer Alexander Torshin, a life member of the NRA, will be revealed.

    Nobody cares. Only you care.

As long as the NRA is living rent free in your head, then I say the NRA is pretty effective.

To the contrary, I am enjoying the NRA's exposing itself lately. Are you afraid of the truth that is being revealed?

If you need to deny all the headlines, reportage, investigations, etc., that is what you should do instead of pretending that you speak for everyone.

But..........not a legitimate point. Yours never are.........something you'd know if you expanded your horizon beyond NRA propaganda.

Myth: The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun
Fact: Armed citizens rarely successfully intervene to stop an active shooter

While the NRA actively perpetuates this idea that ensuring a fully armed citizenry is the best approach to stopping so-called bad guys before they are able to do too much damage, there is very little evidence suggesting that civilians can effectively serve this role. Armed citizens often lack training for high-stakes situations and can actually make a bad situation worse. A more effective approach to preventing gun deaths is to enact strong laws and policies to help keep guns out of the wrong hands and limit access to highly dangerous weapons of war.

The NRA has been very effective in its political lobbying on behalf of firearm manufacturers and retailers, no doubt, but I seriously doubt they are happy about Fancy Pants LaP and his elitists covertly raiding the coffers for their lavish indulgences. You should be pleased that they will now be forced to clean up their sordid act.

    The NRA isn't going anywhere.

This is just a minor bump in the road.

NRA money flowed to board members amid allegedly lavish spending by top officials and vendors

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/inve...687ca99fb3d_story.html?utm_term=.a6c2823aa438

The NRA, which has been rocked by allegations of exorbitant spending by top executives, also directed money in recent years that went to board members — the very people tasked with overseeing the organization’s finances.

In all, 18 members of the NRA’s 76-member board, who are not paid as directors, collected money from the group during the past three years, according to tax filings, state charitable reports and NRA correspondence reviewed by The Washington Post.

Do you ever give a thought to how you look to others? Or is your opinion of yourself so high you see no need to compare yourself to people you couldn't hold a candle to- and that would be most people.....
