I have provided proof that states have used a database of gun owners to send letters demanding surrender of certain prohibited firearms.

Without this database, the state would not have known who to target.

There is no reason to believe that the federal government would not use a national database of gun owners to demand surrender of any firearms that are banned in the future.

    1. Pro 2A folks have long been advocating for more consistent application of prosecuting those that illegally possess firearms. Welcome to the party.

    2. Good luck getting the hood population to rat on each other. These areas are where you will find the highest number of illegally possessed guns.

how many deaths do you accept for that plan. I'd hope anyone who was "turned in" merely for having a gun they refused to register would take out the person who ratted them out and then take out the people who passed such fascist law.

I bet CJ would be trying to rat out everyone he even suspected of owning a gun. I suspect he'd be like "Daniel" in the Mini-series V.

He ignores facts that bitch-slap his silly claims, I like how he wants to create a Nazi like society

tell the storm troopers who is perhaps harboring Jews turns into rating on your neighbors who had NRA stickers on their cars.

Since you appear yo have no ideas about how to reduce gun violence in America how many deaths are you willing to have on your conscience so you won't have to register your guns.

Since nobody has yet found any evidence that gun registration in NY actually led to gun confiscation your statement makes no sense.

The only evidence posted was for Australia which the poster obviously didn't know was not in New York.

So far not one poster has been able to provide any actual evidence that gun registration in the US has led to gun seizures. About all you guys seem to be able to do is duck or make silly irrelevent comments or confuse foreign countries with the US.

You ignorance in comparing gun registration with facism or Natzi Germany is appalling. And since you have not found any actual reason to oppose gun registration for law abiding citizens other than your own paranoia I guess you must find something wrong with peopke turning criminals over to the police for breaking yhe law.

    Why do you state this?

The pathetic gun owners who are so paranoid about registration are suddenly going to become real men and cause a civil war. That has to be the funniest post yet.

Do you have any actual ideas as to how to reduce gun violence in America?

Did you read the post I was responding to when I asked that question?

    Are you following the discussion?

If registration would not be used for confiscation, there'd be no civil war, correct?

    1. Allow individual access to NICS so that private sales can utilize the background check process. Sen Coburn sponsored a bill that would be very effective for this.
    2. Exempt CCW and LEO from background checks.
    3. Arrest those who commit felonies while attempting to get guns. In 2010, 72,000 applicants were denied permission to purchase a firearm via the NICS and state systems. 34,000 of these were denied for previous felony convictions. Only 10 (10!) were convicted. We still have tens of thousands of people who committed a felony by lying on the Form 4473 and have a violent past free to find guns through illegal means. Given that a violent felon is looking for a gun, how many violent crimes could be prevented by arresting and incarcerating these felons? https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/bjs/grants/239272.pdf
    4. Focus on the gun dealers and sellers who sell large amounts of guns to ineligible buyers. If the Brady Campaign knows who they are, then ATF knows who the major sellers are.
    5. Mandatory sentences for those who use guns in acts of criminal violence. Stop plea bargaining away gun crimes. http://chicagoreporter.com/thousand...-being-dismissed-cook-county-criminal-courts/
    6. Extend the legal possession geographies for CCW holders.
    7. Go arrest the criminals who have guns illegally now - don't wait for them to commit a crime.
    8. Fully prosecute and punish straw purchasers. http://www.omaha.com/news/crime/pol...cle_dcd60ace-8716-5651-9125-cb297998694e.html

Are you denying that NY sent letters to registered gun owners demanding that they surrender firearms described in the NY SAFE act?

Can you prove that any of that will work with repeated evidence that shows causation? And then we can tear apart all those studies one by one.

This is what happens when anyone suggest gun control on here

you should be the one trying to seize guns from people who refuse to register them. when Cincinnati demanded "assault weapon" owners register their guns for grandfathering purposes, less than 120 were registered. Two shops that I was the attorney for had sold at least a thousand "assault weapons" to residents of that city in the five year period prior to that stupid law being passed. The city Solicitor's office figured compliance was less than 10% and the one case that was brought (a jilted girlfriend ratted out her former boyfriend) was thrown out by the county Judge. other states have seen similar levels of non compliance

I think you should start the confiscation process.

you are telling fibs again. I know how to reduce gun violence in America. its what has been working for the last 20 years. Get more honest people carrying firearms. sell more semi auto sporting rifles. Pass stand your ground laws.

passing stupid laws that only change the legal environment for honest gun owners is both a fraud and a boon to criminals. You appear to want to help criminals. I want honest people shooting more violent criminals. Nothing cuts down crime like an intended victim killing the violent attacker

you want to put a bunch of people into jail that have never harmed anyone if they refuse to comply with idiotic registration schemes.

One of the biggest lies told by the anti gun movement is that if you are a gun owner and you don't agree to the idiotic harassing laws they want to impose on you, you are somehow responsible for deaths caused by the criminal use of firearms. Its as idiotic as saying if you don't agree to give up drinking, you are responsible for drunk drivers killing people on the streets. In reality, gun banners and those who wish to harass honest gun ownership are far more responsible for violent criminals than us gun owners. Gun banners waste law enforcement resources with stupid laws that don't deter crime. Gun banners pretend that passing such stupid laws actually is crime control and it lulls low wattage sheeple into thinking SOMETHING HAS BEEN DONE. and in reality gun restrictionists are often the same left-wingers who spend massive amounts of time making excuses for criminals and whining about the police.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. People are tired of our massive gun deaths. Its time for action

I'll be happy to tell a mod who I am and they can then google my credentials. and if the mod states I am truthful then you agree to a permanent ban from this board. are you willing to play? I bet not. I have used this same handle on several boards going back to Bush's first administration. and dozens of people know who I am. SO lets see if you are going to put up or shut up.

In the U.S. anyone, is protected from self incrimination under the 5th Amendment, then, you knew that, Right ?

So a Felon or other prohibited person is exempt from registration of their already illegal perhaps stolen firearms, as such would tend to be self incrimination.
