    Breaking News

Leader of the Oath Keepers and one other of his lieutenants just found guilty of seditious conspiracy.

    Meaning of seditious conspiracy =

Seditious conspiracy is a crime in various jurisdictions of conspiring against the authority or legitimacy of the state.

This puts Trump at even more risk of his involvement in the insurrection as now it has been proven that the attack on the Capitol was a seditious act

I'll guess I'll join this new thread (sad to see my other one die off though)

Something here for everybody (both MAGA and reasonable).... Many guilty's, but a few acquittals on the biggest charge for the lower level nutjobs...

Guilty on Seditious Conspiracy will not look good on a resume (unless you are a GOP Congressional candidate, of course - Rhodes 2044!)

Trump will never face a legal charge related directly to the attack on the Capitol.... he insulated himself behind the Bannon's, Giuliani's, and Stone's too well to be touched on that.. and his ridiculous speech that morning was his typical "take all sides" approach to everything he does that will save him from 1/6 charges.. Will never happen.

I still have good reason to hope his involvement in the Fake Electors scheme will bear fruit... and Georgia.... and Documents.... and IRS interference... and Obstruction....

Don't lose hope..... No matter how much those hopes have been dashed on the bitterrocks of reality the last several years.

    Great. Justice has been served.

As usual, you're intent on putting the cart before the horse due to your own confirmation bias. There is no evidence that Trump is at even more risk of his involvement of an insurrection or at any risk at all.

Actually, all it shows is a small group out of the tens of thousands had seditious intent. The rest were following Trump's specific direction to protest peacefully and patriotically. I've never heard of a patriotic sedition, have you?

    That's a bingo!

Patriotic and peaceful, those two words, the directing of those two actions, pretty much exonerate Trump from any wrongdoing.

Five convictions. Only two on Seditious Conspiracy. The latter, maximum sentence, five years.

    Great!

So...when is the leader and his buddies of the CHAZ/CHOP zone going to be charged with seditious conspiracy?

Full legal definition of seditious conspiracy...

    LINK: 18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy | U.S. Code | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute (cornell.edu)

Or are you going to try and defend it by saying that they were just protesting "injustice"? Are you also going to deny or ignore the fact that the leader and others stopped cops from executing the law in that area? That they did not, by force, seize, take or possess any property of the US contrary to the authority thereof?

I don't have to say anything. It has been said officially today. It wasn't me that said it, but the courts.

My understanding, and I haven't really followed this trial too much, is that Rhodes had a couple of text messages about prepping for civil war. Personally, I don't think much of that kind of rhetoric and I don't see any evidence that he was planning any such thing in a meaningful way but it could well have been enough for a jury to hang him.

By "courts" you mean a jury.

I guess two out of five is worth celebrating.

LOL!!! Trump was behind it all. It's truly shocking that it has take this long to get him convicted of his crimes and put away for life! He should never be allowed anywhere near any political office again but instead should be in prison for life with all his accomplices starting with his spawn. And Oath Keepers should be declared a terrorist group along with every other similar group and arrested and locked up too.

    Or not.

Parsing a few words out of his months long tirades to foment 1/6 doesn't really exonerate him.

The jury is from D.C., the prosecutor is from D.C., and the judge lives in D.C. And it was under a Democrat-dominated government.

This is just another example of legal lawyer-like antics and word games.

I think they were overreaching on this charge. It just makes themselves feel better.

It would be like if there was a law passed to make abortion illegal and a woman who broke the law ended up getting convicted of "first degree murder" and "child endangerment".

Everyone knows Trump had plans for the 1/6 riot before he descended down the escalator to announce he was running for POTUS in 2016. We're just waiting for the committee to wrap things up and present the evidence. I heard he was colluding with the Russians on the timing of it.
