I like the fair tax plan. It's vastly superior to what we have now. I am still a fan of flat taxes though.

Of course, between the Pigford scandal and handing out $5 billion in refunds to illegal aliens it's a lot of money.

Personally I think firing Sessions would be a pretty big mistake.

i doubt all taxes are fair. i am single, why should i pay for schools when i dont have children. it is too easy to pick one tax and claim it isnt fair.

now i dont have the answer to fair taxes, i dont think anybody does, but i have no problem politely discussing ways to make things more fair, or at least try to

please refer to my previous post, not sure a simplified code will solve the tax issue

There is no better-researched and complete alternative to the tax nightmare we currently suffer. Taxing productivity is counter-intuitive, whereas, taxing consumption is not.

I don't disagree. The problem with the fair tax is that its so easy to misrepresent that it has no chance of ever passing.

A flat tax is simple and can't be misreprested because there is no fine print. Make 100k, you pay 20k in federal income taxes.

The prime reason the FairTAX has little chance of passing is because it eliminates the IRS. And the IRS is the #1 tool our corrupt crony government uses to "reach out and touch" individuals and corporations they have a problem with, or conversely, ones whose back needs a scratch. In essence, the FairTAX removes a LOT of power from them... and they will never willingly give up that power. The swamp is full of alligators and snakes who will not give up easily.

The solution to that, of course, is to send the scoundrels packing (all of them) and replace them with people who will represent the best interests of the American people.

Go out today and ask your coworkers how many want to see another 23% or 70% or whatever the number is to their sales taxes. See how many are ok with it.

If they will listen to me about how much of the cost of what they buy is embedded tax, and how they will receive a fat check from the government every month to offset the tax they pay, then they'll be OK with it. The actual cost of goods and services would remain about the same, once the embedded taxes were eliminated from them.

But your point is well taken; it's easy to demonize anything of any complexity using the typical fake-news tactic of exaggerating the bad and burying the good. What you just did is exactly what politicians would do if the FairTAX ever got too close for comfort.

But everyone with the cash for a 30 second ad is just gonna say more taxes, making everything they buy more expensive.

You will hear about more handouts to the rich at the expense of the poor.

It's very very easy to make the fair tax look bad.

I'm so disappointed and upset that the IRS and Lerner got away with their insanely idiotic hard drives crashes excuses. They must think the country is stupid to believe corporate emails are stored on hard drives or that so many specific hard drives could crash at once, and even then the data is almost always retrievable. The democrats played the American citizens for the suckers they believe they are. Lerner and the lot of them should have been charged, instead they get golden parachute retirements at the expense of the people they screwed over. And because of partisan politics, the leftists on this board with yawn while they defend her.

It and other scandals are the reason Trump is in the White House and the Republicans control both houses of Congress. I think Sessions was a big mistake. We need a guy like Trey Gowdy as AG.

Every single deduction is immoral. Eliminate all of them.

And even at the effective tax rate pay a hugely disporportionate share of income taxes.

All income and FICA taxes. Excise taxes would remain.

About 18 to 24 and a prebate for each person in the household and then of course you get your ENTIRE paycheck. Go look at that gross amount on your paycheck. That is what you would be bringing home.
