` The news has been replete with stories of how schools (may high schools), colleges and communities have bent over backwards to protect and coddle their sports teams, star players and coaches, to the point of illegality and immoral conduct. Penn State is a glaring example of that. I'm all in favor of dropping the idea of dropping all academic sports teams in favor of a new league within the age group of college players, sans any pretense of education. `
