The Democrats have always been the party with the widest range of sub ideologies and diverse social positions. What other party was able to hold Southern racist anti union segregationalists and Northern liberal pro labor social progressives. They also had flashes of the Eugene McCarthy and McGoverns and the Scoop Jacksons on the sane end. Republicans were only able to tolerate the Jawitzes and Rockefellers in small doses.

I think that she just might become president, yes. Obama -- who clearly was NOT qualified to be president back in 2008 -- made it only because there was a perfect storm of political events leading up to his reach for the brass ring. Had he made his political move at a different point in time he might instead have gotten laughed off the political stage . . . as he would have deserved.

Well, the problem with that sentiment is that it's the very same one that got Trump elected, let's put this guy in and shake up the power system. Whatever else you can say about him - and it's a lot - he has at least done that. So we have people saying calling Trump an inexperienced buffoon - which is true - but then on the same hand praising this idiot for behaving the same way. For all intents and purposes this lady is pretty much Trump writ small.

You remember the opening scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey? The one with two tribes of hominids fighting over a watering hole? IMHO that's what the two parties are nowadays - there's almost no perceivable political difference between the two, merely two tribes warring over power. I mean, it USED to be different but it's gonna be a loooo-o-ooong time before we get back to that. If we ever do.
