Ocasio-Cortez: I Acknowledge My ‘Privilege’ in Being Born ‘Cisgendered’

MAGA is never one to be outdone. He saw Ocasio-Cortez was stealing his incoherent rambling spotlight and quickly rectified the situation:

 

Sounds like you've gone into higher education with a mind sealed shut. Who did that to you? And why are you bothering with higher education when you would clearly rather be prea-- err, teaching than learning?

 

My experience in higher ed was similar. I had some brilliant teachers, some terrible ones. Very clearly they all think pretty much the same thing on most issues. Even on very out there issues they somehow all find agreement.

With the exception of one strangely libertarian professor they all ranged from far left and tolerant to far left and frothing at the mouth to suppress dissent.

Even when I finished my philosophy/pol sci degree and took up engineering - nobody really knows or cares what they're talking about, but its rife with indoctrination. Mandatory units on income inequality in an engineering degree seem suspect.

We had to act out a play wherein people are unable to put food in their table and they go to the welfare office only to be turned away. It got scary.

In many ways that was far worse than the arts professors. I mean, you kinda expect them to be ideologues. But engineering isn't political.

If you managed to read through the quoted bit in the OP, it came at a cost. Not just due to the content, but the glitch inducing realization that she's an elected official.

Laughing. When trying to use this term is to say someone is "cisgendered." You would not say that someone is "gayed" or "lesbianed." It should be cisgender, period.

She can't just say that she is a woman? She doesn't even need to qualify it by saying if she is a lesbian or not.

 

Maybe it's being stereotyped as someone who has privilege based upon the color of their skin, when in fact their lives have been brutal, tragic, dyfunctional; coupled with the fact that they probably know non-whites who're far more privileged than they could ever hope to be.

The concept of white privilege is racist, by definition.

How is it that this escapes you all? How do you guys not realize that you're only convincing people who're already prone to believe such things, all the while serving as a recruitment tool for the klan, neo-nazis, alt right?

I remember a time when progressives were considered the intellectal bit of the spectrum. What happened?

 

As idiotic as I find the Liberal ideology to be these days, I don't and never will recommend that course of action. Why? Well, we saw what the Holocaust brought forth: 90 million people dead, and the human race was at a crossroads with the discovery of nuclear warheads. Once you begin systematically targeting one person or ideology, then you must go down the list leviathan-style before swallowing us all indiscriminately.

Saying that she is a woman wouldn't have anything to do with what she is explaining. She is saying that she can't relate to someone who is transgender and what they must go through personally in dealing with that.

 

You two seem to have no clue why people are mocking her but just follow along as neither of you can articulate what you are doing.

I don't think right wingers are upset. As to why they would mock her, well she says a lot of dumb things (see the OP). But at least for me, that's a feature, not a bug. I like it when she speaks out and if truth be known, she really knows how to capture media attention. That reply to Joe Lieberman's tweet was hilarious. If she plays her cards right, she'll be your President some day, no matter how dumb she is or how many stupid things she says.

More like shaking of the head when hearing the twisted thinking of her generation, where labels are required in order to determine where one fits into group that wants to be all inclusive.

 

Her problem is being overly political correct. If she doesn't want to be criticized she should not try to use words not normally used by her base. Simply saying she is a straight woman and not a transgender would suffice.

So saying cisgender instead of straight is the big deal, besides her adding -ed? I mean she was on a certain radio show, so I am not sure what the audience was (likely not a lot of Trump fans) so maybe that was the Right terminology.

 

Really? I thought it was pretty obvious.

But OK, she is claiming a "privileged" status for 99.7% of the population. If virtually everyone has it, it ain't privilege.

 

I've been looking forward to see what AOC says next. This is really fun.

 

They get a little antsy around such things, they still can't decide which bathroom to use.
