It is also about the marriage between the government and financial sector.

I was listening to some liberal quacks on some rural talk radio show and one point they keep bringing up was the corporate personhood, and how that needs to end, yet failed to mention even once that the same labor unions that just joined this nonsense were given the same status. Liberal hypocrites are simply no longer amusing, they are just stupid.

Unions play an important role in upholding worker's rights, and they deserve the right to protest. However, in all fairness, I would caution the protesters to be aware of the detrimental aspects of the marriage between unions and the government. Crony Capitalism can be found at the helm of many unions.

You seem to miss my point. Part of the movement is based upon the so-called special treatment corporations have received due to the Supreme Court ruling that proclaimed them people, just as unions were proclaimed. Now the unions joined the fight and have not denounced their 'personhood' in the same regard. A bunch of hypocrites, that's all it is. This movement is a joke, and the sooner people realize that, the better.

And they depend on those who are stupider to keep supporting them...and they will.

Which court case are you refering to? Is it Citizens United vs. FEC? If so, the hypocrisy you refer to is correct. After reading the opinions of a few chief justices on this case, I would recommend that Unions involved in the protest to denounce the decision of the aforementioned case. However, in the game of politics, positioning and spin is everything, even for interest groups.

Unions are given the same consideration. Now they protest against the very concept that empowers them. You don't see a problem with that? No conflict of interest? Hmmmm....

How else could out-dated concepts like unions survive?

Hey, haven't been around lately, so want to say that I've missed your posts, you always make me think and laugh! :)

I definitely see a problem with it. I would strongly suggest that Unions involved in the protests to denounce the decisions of Citizens United vs. FEC, or not engage in the protests at all. However, as I stated in a previous post, positioning and spin is the reality of politics, even for interest groups.

Because the class warfare fight would involve the very politicians they support, so Wall St is safer, liberals can hate THOSE rich people, not the ones they vote for.

I don't think the diagnosis is adequate. The nature of the problem is greater than simply govt. and the financial sector. All of Big Business, Big Labor, Big Mil, Big Charitable Foundations, Big Education and Big Govt. are fused into a single revolving mass in which the same characters move round and round interchangeably.

The Occupy Wall Street groups and Tea Party movement actually have common ground. Together they could form the core of a new political party.

But they can never work together. The cultural gap is simply too great for trust to exist.

Thanks for elaborating on my statement, and I agree. Occupy Wall Street does look to fight against the factions that have created a tyranny of the elite. That is why OWS proposes policy for the "99%."

I also agree that the Tea Party and OWS have common ground, even if it is almost unnoticeable. This bond is the need for an end to Crony Capitalism, and an end to Wall Street bailouts in favor of Main Street bailouts. This is the closest these two groups will get to an ideological agreement.

Possibly, although you would have to provide substantive evidence to prove your case.

What? Please, you have posted some intelligent things in the past, unions, both public and private, sway one way, democrat or liberal, some are worse than others. You have to be kidding if you 'require' proof...

I'm fully aware that Unions side with the Democratic Party. However, I require proof on the premise that Unions did start to support OWS because of Democratic political manipulation. If Democratic politicians truly encouraged the Unions to engage in the protests as part of a conscious and evident political ploy, not a speculative one, show me proof. Provide me with dialogue from a Democratic politician advising Unions to go out and protest. Provide me with a news article that provides cold, hard evidence indicating that Democratic politicians advocated for Unions to go protest, instead of an unprovoked effort by Unions to do so.

Yes and that cultural gap has been created by those with the power to do so. The very last thing politicians want to see is a united We The People.

    They support Obama.

It is, therefore, a testament to the passion of those involved that the protests not only continued but grew, eventually becoming too big to ignore. With unions and a growing number of Democrats now expressing at least qualified support for the protesters, Occupy Wall Street is starting to look like an important event that might even eventually be seen as a turning point.

When I refer to a "Democrat political ploy", I mean a ploy carried out by Democratic politicians, not Democratic constituents. If you meant to say a "Democrat constituent ploy", then I will agree with your premise.

The Tea Party would need to purge those elements of its movement that frighten OWS in order to find common ground. OWS would have to prevent itself from becoming the handmaiden of Organized Labor in order to avoid being viewed as a tool of the status quo by the TP.

(*)(*)(*)(*) you, oh, that one stared with a D, the filter might well make that seem a bit more offensive... You make a decent point, I'm uncertain there was any manipulation, but the actual hypocrisy remains. Unions fighting against the same status they have cannot and will not be ignored. Come on, there is no way you could support such blatant hypocrisy.

I don't support the hypocrisy, which I've stated in previous posts. However, it is fair when it comes to political hardball of special interests. It is merely positioning and spin.
