The St. Louis Blues advance to face the Los Angeles Kings...and the latest Las Vegas odds have them as 4:1 favorites now that Vancouver has been knocked off.

The Kings are a good team, it won't be an easy series...

Hockey has a big following in this city...any other hockey fans out there care to weigh in their thoughts on their favorite team?

Surely, we have some Canadiens who post on here...and hockey is huge in Canada.

The Blackhawks won Lord Stanley's Cup recently though, the Blues have never won it.

I was gonna post this thread about 2 weeks ago, but wasn't sure of the interest level.
I only get to watch some of the weekend games, I don't get NBCSP & I work evenings.
My Rangers are hanging in there, that was obviously a must win last night.
At this point, I'd like to see a Preds/Rangers final, but wouldn't mind seeing the Blues in there and/or the Devils, if my Rangers don't make it.
I was happy to see the 'Wings get bounced, hopin' the Bruins lose next.

I'm a New Englander and I come from the section of the nation 'Boston' where the city is best known as the city of sports champions. Pick the Red Sox, the Celtics, the Patriots or the current Stanley Cup champion Bruins and you can see that no other city comes close to having this many 21st century champions in all four of the major sports. Heck, our next president is a former governor of Taxachusetts as well. Having said that, it took the Bruins four 7-game series to acquire the cup last year, and they're starting off the same way again this year by having their first series against Washington go to the seventh game come this Wednesday night. Anything can happen with a seventh game, but I'm sure the rabid fans of Boston won't allow the Washington to skate away with a win. Its been a long time since one team has won back-to-back cups.

Go FLYERS (again). They are total losers, however, this year has a twinge of difference. They are extremely inconsistent both defensively and at the goalie position. On the other hand, they are very talented and are capable of going far into the playoffs. I thought that Pittsburgh was much better of a team, however, they were thrown off their game and took a bunch of freakish cheap shots. I believe that the Penguins should be banned from playing the 2012-2013 season. The actions of one individual (i.e. Rafi Torres on the Phoenix Coyotes) can be excused and not viewed as systemic. The ENTIRE Penguins team (i.e. management and players) should be banned from earning income next year due to more than 3 blatant and inexcusable cheap shots.

You can actually say that as a Fliers fan?

The Fliers are the goon squad of the NHL. They make their living taking out opponents.

Will agree that the Flyers of the 1970's fit that description. That team is long gone. I believe the Flyers are a respectable team nowadays. The Flyers traded away Steve Downie several years ago and Dan Carcillo recently.

So far so good here in Capitals Country. It looks like our boys have finally bought into Dale Hunter's system and it has really showed on defense. We're not making the mistakes that got us knocked out in the early rounds of the playoffs the last couple years.

Rookie Braden Holtby has also been a revelation at goaltender.

    Look out Rangers!! GO CAPS!!

I wish the Rangers didn't have to face the Caps yet, 'cause I was rooting big time them(Caps) to knock off the Bruins. I wouldn't be hugely disappointed if they beat my Rangers. I picked the Caps to win it all the last few years, maybe this year is the year. How 'bout a Preds/Caps Final?

Well, my Bruins did get knocked off by the CAPs, but I said during that grueling series that the winner of that series will win the CUP. And I stand by that prediction. While no one is proud of the fact that we have an anti American pres sitting in the White House down in WASHINGTON D.C., dee c-ers will at least have the honor of claiming Stanley's coveted Cup.

I think this team is better than the teams the Caps put on the ice the last couple of years. We're finally playing playoff caliber defense and our rookie goalie has been spectacular.

So, what do you think of the Rangers, arjay? I haven't seen them play in months.

Speaking of the Preds, they did look impressive against the Red Wings. Have you seen the Kings play? Unless one is willing to stay up past midnight we don't get to see them much out here on the East Coast...

Hats off to the Bruins - it was a hard fought series that could have gone either way.

I guess you saw the stat where the winner of the Bruins-Caps playoffs series has always gone on to play in the Cup? I hope that holds true to form - it's been 14 long years since we've gotten anywhere close to hoisting Lord Stanley's trophy...

I haven't even seen the Rangers play yet this season, never mind postseason. I'm not a huge hockey fan, as far as knowing the players. I know goaltending & scoring clutch goals wins championships. Much like baseball, where great pitching & clutch hitting wins.
The only sports I get to watch, other than ESPN hilites, is on weekends. Hopefully the NY/Caps game Sat. is on NBC, but also the NBA Playoffs are starting, so when I do get a chance to sit down, I'll be wearing out the remote. Here's a prediction: The winner of Rangers/Caps go to the Finals!. Here's hopin'!

The blasted Flyers beat the Devils(4-3) in the 18th overtime game of these playoffs. Now that's some pressure hockey!

Boo - My 'tude did a 180 in the space of 90 seconds...

I'm still wondering if and when the Caps offense is going to get on track - tonight would be a good time to start...
