I hear you, in terms of a high scoring game. So I'll change my prediction. Chiefs 42, Bucs 38. I think Mahomes will still have the edge. Brady is of course the GOAT and he can have spectacular stretches but I think his age does show a little bit in the fact that he isn't spectacular the entire game like he often used to be when a bit younger. Young Mahomes does have the potential for being spectacular the entire game. So in a shootout it often comes down to who outlasts whom, and I think Mahomes will outlast Brady. That's why I'm taking the Chiefs but like you said it will be close. This said, this season, anything can happen: just imagine, if a couple of essential players for either team comes down with Covid-19 in the next couple of days, everything can change.
I can respect that. I personally LOVE low scoring games. I'm a defensive minded coach (yes I coach FB as an assistant). But the Chiefs D is not what they looked like last year. The Bucs D since week 5 or 6 has stepped up and looked a lot better. The chiefs/bills game came down to their pass rush stepping up. That will be key against Brady. But unlike Allen, Brady gets the ball out of his hands much quicker. That's why I guess a high scoring game. Hell, if the bucs can control the clock and establish somewhat of a run game, I think the bucs can run away with it and it might be somewhat low scoring. But if neither team can establish the run, it's going to be a gun slinging game
I added above, after you replied, the reason why I give the Chiefs the edge. Whoa, impressive, we have a FB coach here! It's nice to have you; I'll be on the lookout for your comments.
LOL just a high school assistant coach. I'm the new D coordinator for next season. Now that I am retired from the military, I can finally coach football and play online poker for a living
Sure. Also look at all the games the bucs lost before their team clicked. New system, Brady calling all offense, 3 key defensive injured have returned. Excellent coverage in the back field with a better pass rush (once again, players back from injury). Check out the Chiefs D right now and their coverage. They rely on the honey badger to bail out 2 of 3 DBs. Can't double cover if you need a deep safety every play... I'm guessing you're a chiefs fan? Might need to look back at the tape and see the tape of the Buccs the last 6 games. It's scary the transformation. As a D coach, I love to see my D finally find their rhythm. Chiefs don't have that right now.
Well, I wouldn't say "just" a high school assistant coach. You certainly know a lot more about football than I do, and I respect people's expertise regardless of their position in life. For example, I appreciate our fellow poster Death's expertise as a lawyer; I do not need him to be a Supreme Court Justice to respect him. Similarly, I do not need you to be an NFL Head Coach to respect you. Not to forget, I respect our men and women in the Military so I have a double reason to respect you. Thank you for your service, and enjoy your retirement!
It's going to be tense for me, either way. My husband is super competitive, and he's seeing the Chiefs do well for the first time in his 50 year life. Last year, when they were behind going into halftime; it was not fun, here. The thing about Mahomes and Brady; they both have a way of finding a way to win.
Eagles may be on the verge of trading Wentz. Bears the frontrunner, but the Colts are in the mix Would the Eagles get Foles back? Hurts is not the answer. Eagles gonna suck for a while
They should have fun with the cardboard cutouts and use them all the time. Normal Person, Normal Person, Xenomorph, Normal Person
Just started watching the game w/ Buccs up, 7-3. I haven't followed football in a long while, other than occasional playoffs & Super Bowls. The reason is that the game now seems more about size than skill. The last time I watched the S.B., the opening snap went over the QB's (in the shotgun) head. It's these stupid mistakes that I can't tolerate, remembering how it used to be, back in the Steelers' heyday. Or even in the days of Giants' dominance, of the late 80s. So, at this point, the opening jitters should have worn off. It's just about the end of the 1st or start of the 2nd qtr. The 1st play I see is a 3rd & 4 play, for KC, who tries a screen, & QB Mahomes somehow misses his man. Then they punt. The Buccs have the ball at their own 30. 1st down is an easy little flare right, once the first Chief gets anywhere near Brady, & the AMAZING Brady throws the short pass at the receiver's feet, who is unable to scoop it up. Oh yeah, off to a great start. So the drive actually gets into scoring range. 2nd & goal, & Brady puts one right in the hands of his man, in the end zone, & as soon as he's touched, it's inexcusably dropped. I'll forgive it, since the player's # is 73, which I though indicated the tackle position. (Yes, he was an extra lineman.) But the Buccs have another shot at it. 3rd down, at the 1, & the RB doesn't get in, but loses the ball just as he's ruled down. They go on 4th & get stopped. Now let's watch the other Championship offense. First play from their own 1 yd line is actually the kind of play I expect to see in a S.B.-- the receiver gets a pass over the middle, in company, but jukes & jags his way out to the 15. Second play a short sideline pass that Mahomes throws at the receiver's feet, as well; another incomplete. 3rd & 8 comes up, & Mahones makes a good throw this time, with plenty for the first down, into the hands of #87 who, to balance out the incompetence, drops the ball. Another punt. I'm not sure I'll make it to half-time.
The last time I saw a QB in a SB running for his life like Mahomes tonight was the 1988 SB. Redskins beat Broncos 42-10, and for most of the 2nd half Redskins pass rushers just teed off on Elway. KC needs better line play.
Unreal. Never saw that kind of a blowout coming. The last 2 minutes of the first half was the game. I guess Brady really is Prince Charming (living a charmed life). Mahomes? Wow. $400 Million for that choke job? Yikes.
Can't imagine being Mahomes right now. Probably won't get a good night"s sleep until next year's training camp. I have to wonder about Mahomes after today? Mahomes would have to Win (at least) Another 3 Super Bowls to ever live it down.
KC losing Eric Fisher was bigger than anybody realized. Still, all of those penalties on the KC Defense in the 1st Half were inexcusable. (And can't happen under any curcumstances). Can NOT Happen.
Some KC penalties did indeed suggest they weren't mentally ready. But others were deemed by commentators to be the result of overly zealous referees.
Yeah. Good point. The only big difference is that Mahomes WON in his 1st SB. And he was going for a repeat after winning last year. Elway lost in his first 3 tries. Besides, it wasn't just Mahomes. The LOSS was a Team Effort (and KC's Defense and O-Line stunk up the joint).
I know. Ragtag group without Fisher. Still, those Defensive penalties can't happen. And, it was like "How did KC ever go 14-2 in the Reg. Season?"
True. Just look at how KC Beat Buffalo and how TB beat GB. I don't think anybody saw this kind of a game coming. Mahomes is actually human. Who knew?
