Ohio’s move on ectopic pregnancies – where an embryo implants on the mother’s fallopian tube rather than her uterus rendering the pregnancy unviable – is one of the most extreme bills to date.

“I don’t believe I’m typing this again but, that’s impossible,” wrote Ohio obstetrician and gynecologist Dr David Hackney on Twitter. “We’ll all be going to jail,” he said.
In addition to ordering doctors to do the impossible or face criminal charges, House Bill 413 bans abortion outright and defines a fertilized egg as an “unborn child”.

It also appears to punish doctors, women and children as young as 13 with “abortion murder” if they “perform or have an abortion”. This crime is punishable by life in prison. Another new crime, “aggravated abortion murder”, is punishable by death, according to the bill.

Such extreme contempt for women's health can only be classified as domestic terrorism. Some choice, you must accept your non viable fetus that can't grow into being born be allowed to kill you slowly OR risk the death penalty. Their doctors are faced with watching their patients die from an easily treated cause or not only risk their license but risk prison and even the death penalty.

Isn’t this the state that made it law that would allow a 11 or 12 year old child to be charged with murder if she aborted after an incestious rape?
Even though the live birth would destroy her physically and likely leave her sterile?

What an absolutely ****ed up nation we live in.

Kind of like when the Democrats passed a law in Georgia and then realized how stupid they were when the nurses were unable to do their job. They came out and said just ignore it, until they could fix it.

First off, ectopic pregnancies isn't a viable pregnancy. If untreated it will kill the Mother. Second, What this law would force, is for a doctor to kill their patient. As such no prosecutor's office is going to file charger. There will not be any death sentence or life in prison on any doctor who does this.
Third, I don't see how this law would survive a general debate on the legislative floor let alone judicial review due the the fact the state is saying you have to kill your patient.

There is a picture in the article suggesting the governor signed it, but I'm not from Ohio, so I know nothing...

I think this part of it will be removed. It’s a giant bill that mostly covers other things and has this one section on abortion.

After reading the actual bill. I don’t think any doctors would end up in trouble. They would only have to do that if it was “applicable.” Since there are currently zero procedures to perform such a feat, there is no surgery that could save both lives, and doing so would endanger the life of the mother(part A of that section which is something decided wholly by the doctor), an ectopic pregnancy re-implantation would not be “applicable”(the words in the actual bill. It’s still stupid). This whole bill is crap. This is just one part of a giant 723 page crap-fest.

“(C) Takes all possible steps to preserve the life of the unborn child, while preserving the life of the woman. Such steps include, if applicable, attempting to reimplant an ectopic pregnancy into the woman's uterus.”

NO, in abortion "Pro-Choice" means exactly that.

Women have a right to decide for themselves. That's it, that's all....

That describes pro abortion, not pro choice. If we are confined only to abortion then pro life simply means let the babies live.

Pro-Choicers don't say all women have to have an abortion....where did you get such a ridiculous idea???

    You are partly correct.

This is an issue of protecting American citizen's right of bodily autonomy, the right to their own bodies.

This isn't the 19th century. Being pregnant isn't a death sentence.
