Oh, I didn't know that.
And the jury just tacked on $22 million in punitive damages! Good job smacking down these pathetic SJWs
And HERE'S a link to that judgement.
What can I say. Do they teach coding at Oberlin? Time for the admins to enroll in those classes!
In a normal organization anyone costing them $33 million would be on the street.
They will do what the Donald does well....declare bankruptcy and that would be the end of the money.
No, they will raise tuition which will cause students to take out larger loans.
Righties are like those nasty rabies on the dog.
Liberals want everyone to have nasty rabies just so we’re inclusive and not discriminatory or racist.
Quite a few of those rabies are racists. Why would Liberals want those rabies on the dog. Nice try, thanks for playing.
Isn't the left's socialist mantra that misery is shared by everyone?
You realize that the university was purposely attempting to ruin and end a century old small business because it lawfully called the cops on people committing crimes... people who later pled guilty in court to those crimes. What exactly are you defending here? Are you against the jury system in America which ruled for the bakery or are you against blacks having to follow the same laws as everybody else?
The punitive award brought the total to $44 million.
This us simply beautiful. Hit the radicals in the wallet to shut them up.
News reports are saying the judge in the case may also award legal fees to be taken from the defendants and not the plaintiff. Final damages would exceed $55MM.
Social justice meets actual justice
$10 million in legal fees? Wow, that legal firm certainly went out on a limb for this bakery. Does that mean the firm doesn’t get a percentage of the award?
What almost happened to that family is a complete travesty. That college almost got away with it too. Wonder how much longer justice prevails before we've become a complete lawless society and all because of corrupt liberals? This country is very close to a civil war.
Well, look at part of the article I linked to a few posts above:
Just like many other admins I've met, they're half as smart as they think they are. Also, I can assure you - none of them learned anything from this.
Thanks for the clarification.
Well he definitely has the money now to take them to trial
How do you get rabies ON A DOG? Some new strain that clings to their fur or what
Usually the amount is taken from the total damages but the judge could rule the defendant must pay, it’s a small chance but still a possibility. Cases taken on contingency typically carry a much higher percentage of the final verdict than those billing for the suit outright.
The case was initially deemed un-winnable but the school kept giving them more and more evidence.
When I see legal fees, I see the amount the firm and the bakery spent on their defense. Maybe I’m wrong, but $10 million in legal fees almost seems like a bonus.
I thought you'd be on the side of the college.
Why would you assume that?
