May I quote you into this other discussion? I am kind of hoping that more Atheists and Skeptics will begin to take a few steps in that direction...... http://www.politicalforum.com/index...begin-in-matter-or-fundamental-energy.465052/ Where did Intelligence begin, in matter or fundamental energy? ...... and as for the belief in eternal torment..... the being of light of NDE fame teaches very differently than religious people do........ http://www.near-death.com/experiences/notable/christian-andreason.html#a04h
Yes.... my belief is that the being of light of NDE fame is indeed the Word / Logos who managed to manifest through the body and mind of Rabbi Yeshua / Jesus who promised..... John 16:25 "These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
I'd like to recommend the most powerful interpretation of the New Testament teachings of Jesus I've ever read. It is a highly condensed version of a much more comprehensive two volume work by the same author. I didn't have either the familiarity with the New Testament or the patience to wade thru the longer version myself, but you might find it quite revealing. The book I'm recommending is called, The Yoga of Jesus, by Paramahansa Yogananda. The longer, two-volume version is called, The Second Coming of Christ, by Paramahansa Yogananda. In my humble opinion, these books are the most successful interpretation of the ORIGINAL meaning of Jesus' teachings ever written. I highly recommend you check them out. Best wishes to you in your inquiry.
In the biblical fairy tale Yahweh wanted people to remain ignorant so why would he want them to learn anything after they're dead?
I am a follower of the Great Yogi Berra. Sadly, he has passed on, but his wisdom is still with us. You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six. Yogi Berra Read more at: https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/y/yogi_berra.html
As interesting as this would be there is no evidence to support this, thus your hope is in principal as irrational as the religious people you mock.
This fits with this discussion....... http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/sociopaths-and-god.527628/ Sociopaths And God
Finally, someone who speaks my language. On the spirit side, you go to school and prepare for the next incarnation and it needn't be on earth. You will work and you'll be glad to. The thought of sitting on a cloud while playing the harp for eternity is enough to want to make you wish you were dead.
There is no evidence of NDE's. All we have is the word of people who have said it happened to them. There is absolutely no evidence for it. Just saying. I could say that I danced with fairies under the full moon. Doesn't make it true. And it would be equally untrue if ten thousand people said they've done it.
This coming from one such as yourself who expects people to take your word for a God with no evidence is laughable.
Eyewitness testimony is evidence. There is also corroborating testimony from doctors and nurses who verify what was happening and what was said that the near dead claimed to have seen and heard. And some of these people were blind, but they could and did see after they got out of their bodies, reported what they saw and the astonished doctors verified their report.
There's plenty of evidence. The laws of physics for one. And there's this - http://www.patheos.com/blogs/geneveith/2017/01/mathematical-proof-of-gods-existence/ The great mathematician and logician Kurt Gödel, who died in 1978, left behind a series of equations that purport to prove the existence of God. Now two European computer scientists have run Gödel’s mathematical proof on a computer and found it valid. Dr Gödel’s model uses mathematical equations that are extremely complicated, but the essence is that no greater power than God can be conceived, and if he or she is believed as a concept then he or she can exist in reality. Basically not only circular reasoning but supposition in the first place. This is not just NOT proof it is a piss poor attempt at confusing the whole concept through irrelevant mathematics.
I never claimed to offer any proof. It's circumstantial evidence, along with the laws of physics and the fact that we are here, plus the eye witness accounts of millions of people through the ages who have seen spirits, of exorcists who have video taped demonic levitation. There is a ton of evidence. The hospice workers know.
