Older Americans three times more like to go bankrupt than they were 27 years ago

    The subject of the thread is that older people in the United States are increasingly having to declare bankruptcy due to medical costs. I didn't think I would explicitly have to mention that in a thread on a subject but then again I'm far more used to a forum with much less thread drift than this one seems to have - I'll amend my posting accordingly.

    I'll put up with a lot of things but that sir, is beyond the pale. You shall retract or I shall seek satisfaction ;)

    That appears to the major cause, but not the only cause.

    Judging by that graph previously provided I'd say the percent of bankruptcies due to medical costs has varied between 40 to 65 percent, depending on the year.

    Nope, it's more like having to work so much harder to try and compensate for others' reading comprehension deficits....

    Yep, "financial tool" and "right of passage" actually are terms originating from Bupa!
