The day before Oliver Stone's documentary was to be shown on Channel 112 Ukraine in Kiev, it was attacked by a grenade launcher. Well, now at least Ukraine's prosecutor general won't have to go to the trouble of launching a criminal investigation against the Channel.

To be honest though, I can see why the 'nationalist' government in Kiev is freaking out, it reveals everything.

According to some reports, there were two perpetrators who arrived in a car, fired the explosive device, and fled the scene.

The channel is linked with the ‘Opposition Platform – For Life’ political bloc, which is seen as “pro-Russian” by critics. On the day before the attack, management announced it would broadcast Oliver Stone’s documentary ‘Revealing Ukraine’, which features an exclusive interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

zoomie, read your upload above where you claimed the story was from RT.

I gave you links to demonstrate it is a news story carried by a news outlet in Kiev,
and your reply is just a pivot to that point,
    eh

When you are wrong, you are incorrect. ;)
And to that end, you @zoom_copter66 - if a gentleman, owe @Jeannette an apology
for claiming she was spreading disreputable RT News.
    eh
Or is it a matter of who is the more major propagandist?

Would you minimally acknowledge it was a News source from Kiev and not RT
or do your principles refuse that too.

Funny just re-reading Stone's and Kuznick's "untold history of the US." Still fact-checking some of their quotes and documentation but I know from past fact checking that this should be required reading for anyone who thinks they understand US history.

Kuznick is professor of history at American University in Washington so it is not so easy for the neo-con apologists on this site to reject him out of hand - as if they ever do any fact-checking of their own on sources.

re-reading Kennedy's last commencement speech calling for a re-thinking of America's mostly self-imposed war on anything around the globe that reeked of collectivism or seemed the least antagonistic towards American corporate interests was so telling on where Kennedy was turning just before he was assassinated.

Apparently, Khrushchev was inconsolable when he heard about the assassination knowing that the last chance to find a lasting peace and disarmament from nuclear madness had been snuffed out in Dallas that day and that the worst reactionary elements in the US military/industrial/intelligence machinery was now left unchecked to it's own devices - a reality that continues to threaten the entire planet and all it's people with destruction.

Yes Kennedy's assassination was a sad day for the entire world, he was against the Vietnam war and of course Johnson went ahead with it after he came into office, clearly in the grip of those who financially benefit from "never ending wars"

Yup. Kennedy started out as a cold warrior but I think the missile crisis shook him to his soul and from that day on he was looking for ways to stand down the confrontation with the USSR. This is something the generals, oilman and defense industry contractors could not abide.

The world would be completely different today if not for two turning points in US history. One was the removal of Henry Wallace from the Democratic ticket of Roosevelt and the other was the assassination of a president who may have brought the nuclear arms race back from the insanity that it would become and which we all live under threat of today.

Had John Kennedy not been assassinated:

One thing is certain, it would have been a way different world. At the time it was difficult for a Roman Catholic like John Kennedy to be elected, since the prevalent mentality was that he would be controlled by the Pope. Well, he was elected and disregarding his personal immorality and shenanigans that have always been part of the Irish political culture, Kennedy had to have been influenced by the Catholic Church in the one thing they always excelled on, and that's social concerns.

An example of this was the peace corps, where Americans were encouraged to help third world countries raise their standard of living - instead of manipulating and destroying them like we've been doing ever since.

I don't think the Vietnam war would have come about had John Kennedy lived. The pressure by the Catholic Church would have been immense regardless of their feelings about communism, nor would Roe vs. Wade since the intent of allowing abortions at the time was to preserve the current demographics by limiting black births..

The blacks fought back and encouraged women to have as many children as possible - which in turn caused a break up in the black families and a rise in illegitimate children and this led to the drug and crime problems they faced afterwards.

Even worse was the rise in militant feminists who feared that Roe vs. Wade might be overturned and so they pushed for more and more liberal judge on the bench and that in turn gave us the liberal and boundary-less society we now have.

Pres. Johnson and his CIA cohorts must be proud of themselves.

    @Jeannette

    Watch "A President Betrayed".
About how in those early sixties the military and intelligence people
took a role believing themselves superior so taking actions
without giving the president full briefings. ala Bay of Pigs.
They misled JFK about Vietnam and no doubt LBJ too.
JFK caught on to it and resulted in the necessity to remove him.
LBJ got suckered until he realized he was . . .

And by NIXON, :flagus: was in too deep.

Kennedy was becoming more and more alarmed about Vietnam and the overall arms race and was becoming more and more ready to make major negotiations with the Russians on nuclear treaties and co-existance between the two powers. This despite being a cold warrior at the start of his presidency. Unlike other American leaders, Kennedy appeared to have the capacity to learn on the job and to grasp geo-politics.

Nixon like Johnson before simply gave in to the military leaders and generals thinking that any pullout would show American weakness despite the fact that they both knew the war was practically unwinnable.

Not sure that I follow you here. The liberal world order you are describing is all but dead and we now stand on the very brink of fascism. Replace the 40 women of colour in "the squad" with the term Jews and the dialogue coming from the highest office in the land sounds eerily and disturbingly like it did in 1930's Germany.

But yes, Johnson was one of the weakest most deplorable presidents ever to hold office - but that is not surprising due to his deep connections to organized crime and Texas oil bosses.

It was JFK who got America into a shooting war in South Vietnam.

On the morning of January 20th 1961 outgoing President Eisenhower advised and warned JFK if you want to make a stand against communist expansion in Southeast Asia it has to be done in Laos not at the 17th parallel in South Vietnam.

Eisenhower also warned JFK not to get involved with the Diem regime that Diem was to corrupt.

JFK ignored Eisenhower's warnings and advice and instead listened to those he surrounded himself with, his fellow Harvard buddies who at the time were referred to as "the young and brightest." In the endgame they proved not to be so bright.

JFK signed off on the CIA backed military coups of removing Diem from power. It turned into more like an assassination and from that day on America owned South Vietnam and became America's problem.

A few weeks later while in Dallas, Texas JFK met the same fate as Diem did.

    Please see #17 for reply.

The "over enthusiastic" intelligence operations began with Ike.
Maybe Ike figured it out and tried to offer this experience to incoming JFK.

This won't make sense without #17 above.

    Yet "it" remains.
The story you labeled as "RT propaganda" fostered by @Jeannette
was carried by a news outlet headquartered in Kiev, Ukraine.
    That fact left ignored,
I would prefer @zoom_copter66 not quote nor address Moi on Board.

I don't use the ignore function but, will give you the same courtesy.

While it is true that the first US combat forces did not arrive in Vietnam until 1965, US forces both covert and overt were involved with supporting the French after the defeat of Dien Bien Phu in '54. There were at least 23,000 military advisers in country who were fully engaged by 1955.
