I will say though, that with that larger population comes a larger tax base. It's not as if the US government only has the same amount of money as the Australian government.

Why should anyone's Social Security checks be sent to anyone but the person who has EARNED IT, @FoxHastings ?

In our capitalistic system, a person is forced by law to pay into the Social Security system, and, so is every employer that person works for! The benefits are EARNED, and these payments are not (NOT) handout welfare by any stretch of the imagination.

Each of us has an individual SS account, showing exactly how much each of us has put into the system, and how much we will get back each month when we elect to begin taking it after we retire. Ever been to your own SS account? I know from experience that you prefer to keep your distance, so, look it up for yourself. If you've ever worked, legally, a day in your life, you HAVE your own individual SS account.

How about Medicare? You are required to be 65 years old (again, it's for old, retired people) and to have paid into that system for 40 business quarters (ten years). And even though it is, strictly speaking, an earned benefit, even after you go on Medicare, you still have to GO ON paying premiums, AND, you had better have supplemental insurance to pay for all the stuff that Medicare doesn't pay for....

So, it's no 'bed of roses', but as meager as it may be, true Democrat socialists want to give it all away to everybody, whether they've ever EARNED any of it or not, plus, all the illegal aliens, too! And what do they expect in return? VOTES! Because in this country, even totally worthless parasites are able to vote! Indeed, without them there wouldn't even be a 'Democrat Party'.... :democrat:

I did NOT demand it or threaten their life or try to force them to send it anything else...

I was being funny and making a point about socialism....The End.

So blah blah blah about medicare and individual accounts blah b;ah and worthless parasites ( those Precious lives righties talk about ONLY if they are fetuses) and all your other blather...blah blah blah..

    I am not interested...

Oh! @FoxHastings was merely "being funny"...? Perhaps the word you wanted was, 'comical'? At any rate, such points are as futile as they are shallow and boring....

Unfortunately for all of us, including you, @FoxHastings , Social Security and all the rest of socialism-lite's government-mandated crap was thrust on the United States many decades ago by liberal Democrat demi-gods, Frankie Roosevelt and Lyin' Lyndon Johnson. We're all STUCK with them and nothing will ever get rid of them now.... How "funny" is that...?

[IMG]. "The funny thing is how easy it was to get them roll over for it!" :dog: -- "Woof!"

Yeah, @FoxHastings , now, AFTER I've been forced to pay into the system all my long, working life, I must admit that it's "funny" how much I am entertained as my own Social Security paycheck is faithfully auto-deposited to my bank account every month!

As rape victims sometimes muse, "Sometimes it's just easier to relax and don't fight it...." But, I'd rather have had my money myself and use it to even better provide for my own damned retirement! C'est la guerre.... :oldman:

Your first one is based on suicide and homicide data. Homicide data doesn't reflect the same thing.

Per FBI UCR stats (from expanded homicide/weapon data (table 8 in the later years)), https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s
    1995 13,790
    1996 11,453
    1997 10,729
    1998 9,257
    1999 8,480
    2000 8,661
    2001 18,890
    2002 9,528
    2003 9,638
    2004 9,385
    2005 10,158
    2006 10,225
    2007 10,129
    2008 9,484
    2009 9,199
    2010 8,874
    2011 8,653
    2012 8,897
    2013 8,454
    2014 7,803
    2015 9,103
    2016 10,372
    2017 11,006
    2018 10,265

The trends for murder/suicide together don't exist.
