...is the need to have a sizable population of relatively poor people with which to compare one's self and circumstances.

That's the only way it works.

If most of the population were comfortable and without financial worries...there would be no segment of people to look down on...to say, "Poor slobs. Too bad they are not as adept as I at getting a decent share of the pie."

The desire of such a huge segment of the population wanting to be rich...

...helps us (necessitates) our having a large population of people in want.

There is no reason for that. In fact, in today's world, there is no reason for poverty anywhere. We have the technological/mechanical means to see that everyone has plenty of food, medical care, education...and all the other stuff that makes for a satisfying life.

If we could eliminate poverty...there would be MUCH less migrations of populations from poor countries to richer ones.

It really sucks that we are not headed in the direction of eliminating poverty and privation everywhere. And make no mistake...we are not doing so.

yes there is reason plenty of it, its called human nature.

I just ran across a Japanese proverb that states mountains and rivers can be moved but human nature can not be moved. or at least something to that effect. hence human nature will not change. it is what it is.

which requires the influence and or replaced with, God's Nature.

take the dog for example, man's influence to tame the dog and be loyal to the man is the influence of man on the dog. but put the dog back in the wild the dog relies on the nature of the dog to survive as a dog or it dies because it can't execute the nature of a dog in the wild. therefore the nature of the dog never really changed, it was years of experience of man dealing with dogs that taught man to exploit the nature of the dog for his own pleasure.

and in the case of God's nature influencing the lives and affairs of man is similar in effect in respect to making the flesh respect and or fear God. but it takes the "born again" understanding that being born of a nature that is nature of Christ Jesus doesn't change the nature of a man. it replaces it permanently.

so no matter what, poverty remains in the world until the nature of man is removed from it.

funny thing though, you do realize you accuse and condemn a world you are born into and a partaker of, right?
