We have so many good people here and they are willing to wear a mask. Thus protecting themselves and others. YET !!! 30% have to ruin it for everyone due to their crying over constitutional rights and being absolutely Heart S>O>B's Go ahead, dont wear a mask.
As sad as that is and nobody wants too see that happen. What more can we do ? Trying to help you live longer .

Amazing... good luck with da virus

I, AND ALL of my friends and family, listen to President Trump and Fox News and we all wear masks. We know folks who watch CNN, MSNBC and other crappy news stations who don't wear masks.

To me it looks the death rate to Covid has been jumping up and down for many months now. It does not appear that the lockdown or the lack thereof has done a thing to the death rate. If the infection rate is far higher now but the death rate is staying the same, perhaps the lethality is much less than the "experts" told us (or more likely the young people that are getting it are successfully fighting it off). Perhaps this is just establishing herd immunity.

we will have to give it a couple of weeks to see

but agree, I think the Trump shutdown was not needed in all states

I think the virus was here late last year and that we do have some herd immunity from previous covid viruses

The important number will be hospitalizations. Doctors are getting better at treating Covid, but it will still cost billions to hospitalize people even when they survive. Long term kidney damage
is also being reported on survivors - that could mean trouble down the road.

That's the whole problem - lots of unknowns with this disease. May take a year or so to get a handle on it.

The actual numbers are much higher.

We're close to saturation levels where transmission slows in these communities.

It's nature, sometimes it just sucks. We're doing what we realistically can to moderate growth to manageable levels. That is the only avenue we have.

We're we a dictatorship the best move would be to sequester away the at risk and then compel infection of the 90% of the population at no risk. We'd have achieved herd immunity in the first month and this would be behind us.

That's how you "crush" a virus, by denying it susceptible hosts. Locking down the entire population with the goal of having minimal transmission whilst awaiting a vaccine to create immunity is just putting off the inevitable and adding to the total pain suffering and death.

Cooler heads seem to be grasping the reality of the issue. Actually it's what the health community and epidemiologists were saying from the beginning before the issue became politicized as all issues normally due during an election year.

Cheers, be safe but keep moving.

Congrats to NY for taking the top spot on deaths today.

Congrats to FL for infected lead.

Both are winners in my book!

I believe the quoted is a reference to herd immunity.

No, we are nowhere close to herd immunity.

The irony of claiming that people who listen to Trump and Fox news are more likely to listen to medical experts about the need to wear masks is lost on zero individuals.

The coronavirus new daily deaths for the entire USA were 254 today, lowest since March 25th, and the downtrend continues (worldometer).

I feel that we are. Combine the reduction in R nought aided by awareness and social distancing with the growing numbers of post infected along with our better protections of and identification of the at risk and the total percentage of immune in the population necessary to stop explosive spread is near. 40% is the number I'm coming up with.

    It's just math.

´ ~ None of this has to do with facts about COVID-19. It's about sensationalizing the topic and getting people outrageously worked up over the issue - then finding a way to "blame Trump". This is what the U.S. media propaganda arm does along with the DNC. They will continue to do this as long as they can.

Any disease that is spread via airborne particles, there will be a surge anytime you in quarantine. It doesn't matter if we ended today where in 3 years from now. There are no antibodies. A mask is not going to protect you, it might protect you from others but if you're eating in public or you touch your face what you do any of these things even if you're wearing a mask you can still contract it.

The reality is if you don't wear a mask and you contract coronavirus the chances of you surviving an extremely high and then your immune. So it's a different strategy but immunity is the best protection. the people who should be quarantined are people with autoimmune deficiencies and because this virus attacks the respiratory system people who have breathing issues. And it is important for those people that our economy continue.

But I think everyone already knows all this. Government-mandated recession seems to be an effort to try and create a Ubi.

We have no idea whether or for how long any immunity gets created or lasts.

If only the case count chart didn't look worse than any practically any other country on the planet, that might be reason to optimistic.

I guess you are not 77. Maybe you have Parents who are. Do they know you are so blasé about their welfare?

All of my elderly relatives care more about posterity than selfishly clinging to their few remaining years.

Yeah that's how infectious viruses work. The opportunity to contain it was squandered by China. Perhaps on purpose.

No it didn’t because the lockdown was an uncoordinated shambles that reopened too soon

    Good for them

Have they made out their wills yet or more importantly have they signed an advanced healthcare directive stating they do not want ICU treatment
