Hmmm the corruption seen in rhe IRS and the FBI makes me skeptical about all government agencies. 93% of Washington DC voted for Clinton. There isn't much reason to believe government statistics.

Every business owner i know says things turned around when Trump was elected.
Now i don't credit Trump with this. I credit businesses taking advantage of a percieved better environment for business under a Republican administration. Did you notice the hiccup last November when the Democrats took the house???
It's plain and simple businesses think they will do better under Republicans so when Republicans get elected businesses invest more and it boosts the economy.

I know Trump did my finances a huge favor by pushing to end the mandatory buying of health insurance. Saved me thoudands of dollars per year. In turn i spend that money on other goods and services.

It doesn't take a long time to fix rhe economy all you have to do is give businesses the incentive to invest in their companies.

I don't think so. The constitution doesn't have a requirement for an electoral college. The EC was created by law.

The United States Electoral College is a body of electors established by the United States Constitution, constituted every four years for the sole purpose of electing the president and vice president of the United States.

But how entertaining would it be if you went back to the original constitution as written and Hilary was the vice president.

Do you know why the Electoral College became part of the U. S. Constitution? It is to protect the individual from being subordinate to or made irrelevant by large centrally focused urban populations. It requires the wise presidential candidate not to disregard that voting populace residing in a less populated areas. Every vote counts. Every American citizen’s vote counts as it influences the Electoral College vote. The U. S. A. Is a Republic and our vote in Congress is made known by our Representative and Senator.

    HISTORY LESSON

    Puerile nonsense.

In 1812, when both the Electoral College was constituted in Amendment 12 and Gerrymandering was practiced for the first time in Massachusetts, the total population of the "US" at the time was no more than about 5M people. The 12th Amendment's sole purpose at the time was to give the Southern states more "representation" in the selection of an Executive; and thus particularly in the election of the PotUS.

Whyzzat? Because migrants were pouring into the northern states (of the US) from Europe. The south was importing mostly slaves. (And exporting mostly finished cotton cloth!)

Moreover the rift between the North and the South was predominant before the Revolutionary War. Slavery had been banished in most of Europe, but the South wanted adamantly to preserve slavery that was necessary to its economy (and thus standard of living). This led to the governmental rift that finally prompted the South to secede from the Union in 1860. And, of course, the Civil War.

America was the first to show the way out of Colonization to an Independent Democracy. It took Europe nonetheless another hundred years to undertake that same evolution.

    MY POINT?

Wisdom in politics was never the forté of any democracy. Men want power in order to exercise it. Which is why it is high time we got more women into politics to see how well they do. (It can't be worse than we money-blinded males!)

Besides, you never know until you try - the human being is a strange animal that reverts back-and-forth between Selfishness and Communal Benevolence. The historic fact is that at the foundation of any democracy there is the Will of the People and not the Will of a King. Or the will of an Electoral College manipulating the popular-vote.

So, pray tell, what is the difference today from a King 200-years ago who milked his colonies to fill his coffers*? When it comes to Income Disparity, the US is amongst the worst of any developed nation! (See here.)

And some people think that's Just Fine because "We are a democracy!". Democracy is not just-a-word. It is a definable Quality, Instance, Example, or Entity.

    And in Economics,
it is measured economically by means of the Gini Coefficient, which is shown in the link given above ...

*How do you think the state of PENNsylvania got its name? The British king gifted a very large parcel of wooded-land to William Penn for "services rendered" in putting down a rebellion in Ireland (from where the Penn family migrated to the US). (See here.)

We don't have a national election for president, we have 50 of them.

We? You got a mouse in your pocket?

Last time I looked, the presidential election was national. Where it was SCREWED UP is in the EC of no more than a handful of states who vote disproportionate to their population.

    From here:
From the NYT: Should the Electoral College Be Eliminated?
