So you're in a Wal Mart and someone starts shooting people. Everyone runs for cover including you. A man with a pistol advances on the fire seeking position and a clear shot. Which of you is a coward?

I love when people thrust out their chest and make comments like this. Utterly laughable.

Pepper spray is not a substitute for deadly force.

I wont say pepper spray is necessarily better than a gun. It may be better for those women who wont take self defense seriously enough to be COMPETENT with a gun. Gassing a whole area with noxious, debilitating fumes is still a decent way to try to prevent a rape. Shooting the rapist is great and all, but realistically, theres always gonna be those ppl who just wont take life seriously until its too late. Pepper spray may be their best chance.

Pepper spray is better than nothing, but if all you have is pepper spray you need deadly force, you're SOL.

Very true. Though, in my neck of the woods, the bad guy has to assume everyone in the store is packing.... because there is a damn good chance that they are. ;)

Pepper spray is a reasonable alternative for women who are against or intimidated by guns but I have to believe shooting a rapist with a bullet instead of pepper spray is a more efficient rape deterrent.

I see no plus side to open carry. It never made sense to me to show your hand.

Theres also something to be said for 'community service.' Pepper spraying a rapist may stop them from raping once. Killing a rapist stops them from ever trying again.

Shooting a predator and rapist does one additional thing; it prevents future victims.

When I was a LEO, I saw a bloke that was covered in Felony arrest warrants in briefing, I was alone and on foot, I maced him with the good stuff, to take the wind out of his sails, the wind shifted and blew most of it in my face, it did not stop me, however, he almost got away if he had not ran into a stout pair of NYPD uniformed officers.

They arrested him and made comments about how effective (not) I was.......

And that is EXACTLY why I do not open carry. I am a instructor at a local Police municipal range and even if it is legal, believe me you will always get the attention of LE if you are running around with a gun openly displayed on your hip. I have been trained by many far more experienced than me for weeks at a time and I have yet to have any of my instructors recommend open carry. In fact they all have taught the principal of being the "grey man".
I will completely avoid the discussion as to how bad it looks for our industry as a whole.

But that doesn't allow you to show off and pretend to be a big man!

I'd guess a large percentage of open carry persons also have a big truck. And we all know many men buy big trucks to make up for other shortcomings.

And thus, the mindset of the anti-gun left.

I live in an open carry state, but I don't open carry. I don't object to it, but find IWB to be comfortable and it does avoid the hassle and time delay of police doing due diligence and questioning me. But when you mention the concept of the "grey man", I have always preferred that though I also don't carry myself with a victim profile. Now days, I am the gray "grey" man, it affords me ample opportunity to observe behavior in others when I am part of the scenery.

That is the exact definition of being a "grey man".

Why does Sex always become a part of these conversations ?

    To paraphrase Freud;
Sometimes a truck, is just a truck....
    Not a phalic symbol.....

If he will answer my question he may have a LOT to add to the conversation. He may lead the topic into a discussion about the alphabet lifestyle.
