There are four types of wars, punitive, protective, pacification and profiteering.

America from 1800 to 1941 were the best in the world when it came to conducting wars of punitive actions. From 1800 to 1934 U.S. Marines went ashore on foreign soil 180 times. These were small wars the the vast majority were punitive actions. (The Banana Wars were wars of profiteering)

    Punitive action:
You go in, you break things, blacken some eyes, break noses, break an arm and then kick them in the balls leaving a message if we have to come back again we'll break all of your limbs and cut your penis and balls off.

It was very effective and worked extremely well for 140 years.

Most of those punitive actions were to get governments to submit to US economic concessions.

Punitive actions will not work against international terrorists or insurgent groups, unless of course your goal is to increase terrorist recruitment, then it will work very effectively.

    You are wrong.

First of all that would be wars of profiteering not punitive actions.

List 25 of those "small wars" where the U.S. were trying to get foreign governments to submit to U.S. economic concessions.

The First Korean War 1871: (Punitive Action aka "Butcher and Bolt")
The Hermit country of Korea burned an American merchant schooner and took 27 of it's crews as captives.
Punitive actions was taken by the U.S. Navy and Marines.
Korean forts were destroyed by naval bombardment and sending 159 U.S. Marines and 542 navy bluejackets ashore killing 800 Koreans at the cost of 3 American lives.
Korea apologized and returned the captured crew members and and learned their lesson, don't **** with American citizens.

My favorite American small war was the Marquesas war in the Polynesian Islands (1813). The United States was present and even had a fort in the Polynesian Islands a couple decades before France occupied the South Pacific. First time a Marine officer would command a ship.

An American citizen is arrested by a foreign government on trump up charges...send in the Marines.
An American merchant ship's cargo it unlawfully confiscated...send in the Marines.
Foreigners (natives) murder American Christian missionaries some where in a shithole part of the world...send in the Marines.
Some Muslim in Morocco gets a hardon for an American woman and kidnaps her...send in the Marines.
They even made a movie about that little punitive action war.

Any of those actions today, where we go into a country and deliberately murder civilians and conduct war crimes (you do realize that is what you saying we should right?) would result in the families of the people our soldiers murder joining the terrorist groups in order to get revenge.

Far from decreasing the threat of terrorism, it would increase it.

When did U.S. Marines, bluejackets or American soldiers deliberately killed civilians ?

Any resistance by civilians or armed civilians not wearing an uniform under international law and the "rules of war" are unlawful combatants and can be executed on the spot.

The most politically incorrect war America has ever fought was the Philippine Insurrection. ( Cultural-Marxist revisionist about ten or twelve years ago renamed that war as the Philippine-American War)
(Don't use Wikipedia as a source, about eight years ago Wikipedia adopted cultural-marxism revisionist history.)

You will not find to many books in a library on the Philippine Insurrection because even historians don't want to touch on the subject.

But as soon as American soldiers went politically incorrect the Muslim Moro's basically surrendered.
Muslims respect power and the sword. Grab a Muslim by his balls and his hearts and minds will follow.

    A little side drift.

What the **** happened to Afghanistan ???

It was communism and the Soviet Union who turned Afghanistan into a shithole country.

Most on the PF never got around to the thread I started back in February of this year.
Afghanistan during the good old days -> http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/afghanistan-during-the-good-old-days.527278/

Afghanistan before communism and Russians during the 1960's.

Notice not one AK-47 in sight.

Yes, do everything you can to deflect from the fact that the Russians failed in Afghanistan using the same tactics you advocate for the US to use.
