I believe encouraging mothers and fathers to raise their own children together is a legitimate governmental interest. I believe encouraging homosexuals to marry so they can feel better about their homosexuality and so they can try to win more "respect" from society and "dignity" for themselves is NOT a legitimate governmental interest.

Gay people don't want to get married so they can get more respect or dignity. They want to do mostly so they can get the same rights, benefits and protections as married people.

It also sounds like you have a problem with hetrosexual couples getting married that are not going to have children.

I don't much care about what people do in the pricacy in their own home, as long as it isn't something like pedophilia.

But just remember, if it's okay for one group to discriminate it's okay for all groups to discriminate.

    anything else is hypocrisy.

No, but you're telling him what he should think about who people sleep with. How is that not the same thing?

I think that what people are, gay or straight should not be a problem. I think gay people are doing what comes natural to them, sexually, as straight people do what comes natural to them.

All citizens of this nation should have equal protections under the laws of the land. But I do not think that the laws of the land should intrude, force religions to marry gays, if that is not acceptable to their religion. Yet I think if gays want to marry, that should be legal, as there are other ways to get married except in your local RCC.

Put this into place, and then move on to the much more important problems that face this nation.

I don't know about that but the courts determined they needed it and a denial of such respect and dignity would be a violation of the constitution. From the California case.

I don't care what your sexuality is as long as you keep it behind closed doors.

Agreed. But, it also means not forcing your inane, repressive homonormative beliefs on others.

Don't make a baker make the cake.... there are tons others, let him go out of business.
Don't make a pastor marry you.... there are tons others, live and let live.
Don't jam up pastors for their sermons.... speak your own voice and leave others opinions to be heard too.
Don't tell little boys and girls they have to have transvestites in their bathrooms at school. Go use the faculty bath room.

If you are the exception to the rule, and gays are at less than 4%... don't impose. I am all good with gays getting married, civil unioned, adopting, etc.... but the in your face garbage repels even me.

Homosexuality is not normal and steps should be taken to correct it.

People are correct when they say its not a choice, it is a genetic flaw that results in roughly 4% of the population not acting the way that nature intended them too. Nature does not create species that have no interest in propagating. When that does creep into a species genetic code then that species goes extinct.

Science has isolated the gene responsible for homosexuality and are fairly close to having the ability to manipulate and test for it which means that parents will be able to tell if their unborn child has this defect and correct it before it leaves the womb.

In my view, allowing parents to keep this genetic flaw within their child would be the same as allowing a child to be born with cancer if you could genetically fix it and the parents should be prosecuted for that.

Gays as to their preferences, as sexual human beings, aren't even on my radar of moral or political concern, just as no individual's legal preferences and sexual habits in the private sphere are. Life is too short and strife-filled to worry about the various ways consenting adults seek happiness in their private lives. We were a world of church ladies for a long, long time, and have grown away from that drastically in the last toenail of history. Good.

Gays as a political special interest, the victim group du jour, like any category of faction or identity politics, whether it's blacks, women, men, whites, redheads or left handed people -as such- , groups instead of individuals, are obnoxious to me. Of all the gay people in my family and whom I've known over the years, I don't think any of them would claim to be victims, yet the leftist religion is exploiting them in this way, as if that is their prerogative to reduce whole groups of people to the political.

Religious marriage is available to all people right now. State marriage, and all its appurtenances, should be abolished yesterday for all. Marriage should be a purely religious or spiritual, not political subject. The reasons for it being political, part of public health and welfare, are in the past, have all evaporated via technology. I certainly don't want more people being brought into a building that needs torn down. There is the argument that until it is torn down, that it is wrong to exclude, but IMO the equities still balance against enlarging marriage politically. Just my opinions.

Well that's a demand for mindless soulless conformity if I've ever seen one.

This "we all have to be the same" mentality is a bunch of crap.

I guess that the real reason for demanding of conformity is because people are really afraid of something that's different than them, and no I'm not claiming homophobia here. We all come out of Africa, and because of that people are tribal and e xenophobic in nature, and anything that is different poses a potential threat to the tribe.

So you get demands for conformity.

I would love for that crap to go away.

Thank you for making this thread. Regardless of what you believe, I am open to honestly debating this issue.

First, I will turn your attention to Michael Sam and the gay agenda, for a moment. If I may, I'd like to pose a series of questions regarding these topics. This is merely an example and I will expand upon it; however, my expansion hinges on your answers to the following questions.

What is your stance on Michael Sam becoming a free agent? Why do you think he is the only 7th-round pick in the NFL that is constantly discussed in the media? Isn't it peculiar that the mainstream media is pushing for him to be signed by a NFL team? Surely, you wouldn't suggest it has nothing to do with his openness regarding his homosexuality, and the mainstream media's fascination with pushing the gay agenda.

Also, I would like to ask you on the ability for a private business to discriminate based upon one's sexual orientation. For example, Big Earl's is a restaurant in Texas that refused to serve a gay couple because, correct me if I am wrong, of their blatant public displays of affection. Do you support this refusal of service? If not, why? Do you consider it lawful?

Finally, I would like to clarify my stance. I have no issue with gay civil unions and their rights as citizens of the United States. However, I believe in the sacred meaning of the term "marriage" and wholeheartedly disagree with those who claim churches should be forced to celebrate gay "marriages." I despise public displays of affection by gays; the gay agenda they are pushing must be stopped, as it is affecting the general public, specifically regarding its troubling influence on news outlets in [mostly] liberal areas, as well as some national news broadcasts.

    Be forewarned.

You can not have an open and honest debate with gays without being called a bigot if you disagree with them on anything they believe.

They think you have no right to disagree with them or criticize them so they will just resort to insulting you and berating you.

    That's all they do.

    it's sad, really.

But I understand where this comes from, though.

I have no issues with gay marriage personally. I honestly find the behavior to be absolutely repulsive but that's not a good enough reason for me to say they shouldn't be allowed to be together. After reading hundreds of articles and debates about the issue I have only seen two actual reasons why people are opposed to gay marriage. 1. Religion, 2. It's gross.

Neither are good enough justifications to ban it.

Hahaha, I mostly agree with your point. I'm just trying to have an open and honest discussion with someone who has an opposing view about gays.

Well, I have an opposing view.

I firmly believe that homosexuality is deviant and degenerate behavior.

However, I don't care what they do in the privacy of their own home.

I also believe in fair treatment under the law and don't support discriminationation, regardless of what prejudices I have.

I criticize them because they have become a culture of thugs who want to bully people into accepting them as normal and good and wholesome people.

And they're so unintelligent that they can't seem to get the point.

But the reason they've become a culture of bullies and thugs is because of how they've been bullied and put down themselves.

Because of the bigotry and hatred of American society.

They claim morality, but, to me in order to be truly moral, you can't do the same thing the other people are doing that you find so deplorable.

And yes, that does make me something of a hypocrite myself when i go on about liberals and gays.

But, remember, they say it's okay to be a jerk to someone who is being a jerk.

Which, actually, when you think about it, is just another way of saying the ends justify the means.

I would agree, churches should not be forced to preform marriage ceremonies for people that aren't part of their church.

How much of it should I keep behind closed doors? Should I act as though my husband is just my buddy in public? Are homosexuals held to a higher standard? Or do you prefer not to see anybody that is obviously in a relationship?

You are perfectly withing your rights to believe that. I disagree, and think that makes you a hateful, but that is neither here nor there. My question for you is why do you feel your (and others) believing that it's "deviant and degenerate" rise to the level of being able to legally deny them civil marriage? I am straight, but I assure you, I do things that you would label "deviant and degenerate", yet I am not denied marriage.

Thank you for your question. It's exactly what I was intending.

I am sorry, I am not familiar with pro sports so I don't know what a free agent is. But Michael Sam was only reported on so heavily because he was openly gay. Frankly I found the obsession with his sexuality to be a bit on the offensive side. He is just like any other 7th round pick and who he goes home to has nothing to do with his NFL career.

As far as the gay agenda is concerned, I have noticed that the media tends to not say anything bad about homosexuals regardless of their actions, if that is what you mean by the gay agenda, I think that kind of thing hurts us more than helps us. I have noticed that sometimes actually the media pigeon holes homosexuals by depicting us as flamboyant interior decorators, drug users and over the top girly men/ Butch women. I don't appreciate that.

If I remember correctly there was some lewd conduct involved with this. If you ask me they weren't discriminating against their orientation but their action. Perfectly legal and I don't disagree with their actions.

I agree that churches ought not to be forced to celebrate same sex couple's marriage. And if you don't want to call it marriage, nobody can force you.

I do believe that the lgbt is being used as a political bayonet against what certain political parties view as the enemy of the state. I don't talk about that any more than that publicly.

Can I ask you an honest question?

Without getting too particular is it the overly borderline lewd conduct "everybody look at us we are gay" public displays of affection that bother you?
