After al, you just have to have name recognition to be president. No experience governing or legislating whatsoever. As a disclaimer before the following, I am serious.

While Oprah Winfrey simply joked about a presidential run, it would actually be one that would give Trump a challenge -- no matter how much Trump appeals to the dinosaur gas industries (coal, oil, petroleum) or wants to put America in a bubble. Oprah would be a aspiring figure, a woman who actually breaks the glass ceiling. Unlike Trump, its documented that Oprah is an actual billionaire, and doesn't consider Russia a next door neighbor. Also, unlike Trump, Oprah went from growing up in a middle class, Southern household to a powerful figure in media. She wasn't given her empire, like Trump was, she wasn't thrown bags of money like Trump was, Oprah is more like us than Trump is capable of having a legit orgasm.

Oprah would have to go out with the message she is the example of hard work, and living out the American Dream. Like Bill and unlike Hillary, Oprah is charismatic, which Bill showed often swoons voters more than one-liners or soundbites. Oprah helped to pave the way for Obama in 2008 starting in 2004, growing enthusiasm for Obama's battle against Hillary in Hillary's first run for president. If being in business is what people want, then Oprah has that too. On a social level, Oprah would have the effect Michelle Obama would -- black, a woman, without the "Obama" baggage, as much as Obama served us well.

After all, aren't we supposed to hate politicians? Or would Oprah get attacked for lack of political experience by Republicans? I would be willing to back Oprah Winfrey for 2020, and say it with a straight face. She helped Obama, now she can help America.

And hey, a Same Sex First Lady wouldn't bother you, would it?

Now that Trump has paved the way for non politician media stars to win the highest office in the land, the door is wide open for a respected person like Oprah to become President next election. If Trump fails to deliver on his promises in the next 4 years and/or screws the pooch by starting some bloody trillion dollar turd hunts like Cheney/Bush did, Ms. Winfrey would have a great chance to whip his ass good in 2020. She is far more well spoken, thoughtful and intelligent than Trump and would be far less likely to shoot herself in the foot by making asinine statements....

Oprah would be better than any other Democrat in the running for certain. Probably their best choice. But there is the problem of whether she'd release her tax returns and obviously virtually NO Democrats would vote for her unless she did.

    Go Oprah.

She could absolutely defeat Trump or Pence or whoever the GOP has left standing in 2020.

Whoopi Goldberg as Secretary of State with all of her experience on the Star Ship Enterprise.

    Judge Judy as Attorney General.

Ellen DeGeneres as Secretary of DHS

Rachael Ray as National Security Adviser

    It's the Democrat Dream Team.

I don't think Oprah would have any reservations about releasing her tax returns if she decided to run for President. She makes enough money to have plenty left even after the government takes it's whack. The reason Trump wouldn't release his is probably because he has gamed the system and thought it would be embarrassing. Unlike Trump, she started with nothing but her own talent and business acumen and has more money at a younger age that the old Trumper. If she did decide to run, she would be a very formidable candidate.

She might appoint a Secretary Of The Treasury who isn't a Goldman Sachs lackey like the last 5 Presidents have. She is not likely to appoint a whacky religious nut for Secretary Of Education or an imbecile for Secretary Of Energy...

Nah, the libs won't vote for her. They spent the last 2 years telling us that experience is critical, Trump will have 4 years of Oval office experience, she'll have zero seconds. Libs won't be liars and hypocrites, they will do what they preach and vote for Trump, right? :D

It's the DNC who decides who will be the Democrat candidate for President not the Democrat voters.

The DNC picked Obama back in 2008 and ran him as a black man and how did that work out ?

The DNC had no choice back in 2016 because a deal was made back in 2008 that Hillary would become the Democrat candidate for President in 2016.

Not sure if the DNC will go with a drag queen or an anchor baby in 2020 ???

That the libs on this thread haven't bothered to even mention Oprah's positions on issues is quite telling. Where does she stand on immigration, open borders, free trade, NATO, ISIS, Iran, taxes, national debt, Syria, the refugees.....? They don't know, they don't want to talk about it, they clearly could not care less.. Sad.

In all fairness maybe she does, maybe she does not.... The sad thing is though, the libs here don't know her views and they don't care, they aren't even trying to find out, they want her to run and are ready to blindly vote for her.

If Trump is successful in enacting his vision, the economy continues to grow and does not start any wars he would be very tough to beat. However if he continues his idiotic childish war with the press and keeps sticking his foot in his mouth, he will be vulnerable in 2020. If Ms. Winfrey decides to run, she would be a very formidable opponent and despite what you say, almost all Democrats would vote for her and the black voter turnout would even exceed Obama's...

If Ms. Winfrey has ideas she'd like to see supported, and thinks she can get public support of those ideas, more power to her. I see no reason why anyone who is sincere in their belief that they could offer a positive change to the workings of the U.S. government shouldn't throw their hat in the ring. But know that it's a rough sport, not for the faint of heart. I actually appreciated the fact that there were 17 candidates on the GOP side of things, and wished that more people had run on the Dem side. It's about time we opened the process up to people who can actually lead. It matters not whether they've been involved in politics, it only matters that they tell us what they would do if elected, and should they be victorious, that they work on doing what they said they would do. It's a simple concept, but Trump is the first one in some time who seems willing to do that. If that's what Oprah is interested in doing, she should be welcomed into the process...

I'm inclined to agree. She'd probably get a lot of people voting for her because she's got name recognition, she's a woman, she's black, and she's got a D next to her name. That said, if she is unable to stand on reasonable ideas which she makes a good case for, many people won't bother casting a ballot for her. I don't think people voted for Trump, I think they voted for border security, an improved economy, a solid Supreme Court nominee, etc.

Not being a politician, she probably has not gone on the record on many of those issues and the positions she has gone on the record about are probably fairly main stream Democratic Party standards. There is a good chance that Trump will double the national debt by the time the next election season begins. Then, I suppose that all of his supporters will act like they don't care about that. If Trump dicks the deal, he will get booted like GHW Bush and Jimmy Carter...We are due for another of those as it's been over 24 years since a sitting president got ousted.

Serving only one term is a completely different outcome than being ousted. Dramtastic.

She might not fit behind the resolute desk :roflol:

Why does America insist on picking actors and reality TV stars to be politicians?
