Ottawa Canada Has Devolved Into A Police State, Mrgunsngear B Channel, April 19, 2021 "Moving forward, police will have the authority to require any individual, who is not in a place of residence, to, first, provide their purpose for not being at home, and provide their home address. Police will also have the authority to stop a vehicle, to inquire about an individual's reason for leaving their residence." Obviously if people don't comply they are going to be arrested on the spot. Ottawa is the capital city of Canada. These policies have been put in place as a response to the coronavirus pandemic. But if it were not for the pandemic as a justification, would citizens ever be okay with these type of policies? It does seem strikingly reminiscent of "police state" type policies that have existed in places under totalitarian control looking back on recent history in the Twentieth Century. Are these police powers just temporary, or how long is this going to go on?
This actually provincial, per Doug Ford, the premier. And many police departments have outright stated that they won't be following this.
It's fine. Police had these emergency powers in Melbourne in response to the pandemic. It's temporary.
