We are facing serious cuts to our national defense that will leave us vulnerable to other countries that are spending billions ramping up their defenses, and a serious loss of jobs. Check it out...

War does not create prosperity, it destroys.

If America was honoring its Mandate from our Declaration of Independence: “to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them,” and to have “a decent respect to the opinions of mankind” we wouldn't have any enemies.

No advocate or apologist for our last century of almost constant wars of aggression, can answer this question:

Why was it that America could not feed, clothe or house millions of Americans from 1929 through 1941 to the extent that America's population declined 7 million, and then suddenly in 1942 it could afford to produce and send thousands of miles over seas to be destroyed, millions of guns, bombs, bullets, boots, shirts, tanks, trucks, planes, ships, and mountains of food which it could not afford to do up to that time?

    Utter garbage .
The US actually cannot afford to buy anything , and every day you are allowed to function as undeclared Bankrupts , you should give Thanks .
Your current Unemployment rate of 15% minimum ( about 8% using fake figures) will be near double that level in a year after Obama is re-elected , so I wouldn't worry about checking how many peanuts are in the bowl now .

One thing you are right about is the fake 8% unemployment.

Defense official says automatic cuts will cause 'absurdities'
May 31st, 2012 - The Pentagon's chief budget officer is ringing the alarm bell about looming budget cuts that could destroy the department's new defense strategy and force the defense industry to face "absurdities" as defense programs are shuttered.

we already spend what? 10 times that of the next top 10 countries combined, I think we have much room to cut waste without effecting our security

    onalandline; et al,

The US Leadership wasted a lot of money in the last decade on wars for which the US will never see a return on its investment.

    (COMMENT)

Clearly, the opening video was made by those that are protecting the defense industry. While we definitely need to proceed cautiously with cuts, there is little question that cut will have to be made.

But going beyond defense cuts, the US needs to rebuild its infrastructure in nearly every aspect. And building in America circulates $$$ in America on our economy. Rebuilding America creates jobs, in a much different way than does giving military and foreign aid to countries like Iraq, which has already turned against us. Money spent on Afghanistan is thrown away; we will never see a return on investment there. But improving our public works in America, cleaning up the Mississippi River, repairing our highways and airports, improving our electrical distribution system, and properly funding greater scientific and research projects, all put US worker to work in America. Funding grants for education improves America. All these things can turn America into a new 21st Century Country, a Mecca for scholars and scientists to thrive, and the gravitational center for learning and new inventions. All this adds to America. We can do all this by reinvesting in ourself. And as the general revenue picks-up and unemployment gradually drops, we can once again consider the amount we invest in our defense programs.

    Most Respectfully,
    R

Cuts have to be made in every area of our federal government. Out of control spending is our main problem.

    onalandline, et al,

    Yes, I agree.

    (COMMENT)

And we are spending far too much money on foreign aid programs, in the defense industry overseas, and in external military expeditions; and, not enough in domestic programs, infrastructure repair, science and research, and education.

    Most Respectfully,

If domestic programs = entitlements, then they need to be cut too, not expanded.
