Missiles can only do so much just like airpower...It makes no difference really infantry is still the queen of battle.

I said modern era. And that was in a war that had already raged for four years in which 400,000 Americans had died.

That's like saying I'm not really healthy because the only thing flowing through my veins, arteries and capillaries is blood.

Yaah, the Bolsheviks took an economy that was positioned to take off at the end of a suffocating monarchy and derailed it with collectivist economic policies.

Destabilize U.S. politics. They're typically started by foreign trolls.

A little realism might upset some American nationalists, but it never hurts.

Henry Wallace was better informed about foreign policy than Truman. If Wallace had been selected as VP again the US never would have dropped the A-bomb and there never would have been a hard line stance against communism which also means no Vietnam conflict. Wallace would have changed America's hard line stance against communism. Wallace would not have gone to war with Russia.

And Truman. Churchill said Truman changed once he learned the A-bomb was a success.

For those who don't know history:

All the royal families in Europe were Queen Victoria's and King Christian of Denmark's children or grandchildren. The hope was that since they were all siblings and first cousins there wouldn't be any wars. Yet Germany's bluff to the Tsar that they will support Austria to get him to turn back his troops turned out to be too late. The Tsar's troops were already at the Serbian front and couldn't be called back. When the German ambassador realized his mistake, he started crying over what they did. The death toll from that war: 20 thousand men a day.

This shows how one misstep is all it takes. During the Cold War, I know of at least 2 times that a small mishap could have started a nuclear war. The last time the Russian in charge averted a nuclear war by not responding when a warning signal malfunctioned, and another time a missile heading for Berlin was shot off by accident. It was stopped in time or we wouldn't be around.

As Alexander Pope once said: Only fools will rush in where angels fear to tread.

Logic alert. You quoted Lenin and then used the word "therefore" to state something incorrect about the United States. We don't have an oligarchy or ruling class here. Many people in power came from modest backgrounds. Lenin described Russia not the U.S.

I see that IQs started to drop in paRussia. The drop is increasing exponentially. This is why this troll is not on my ignore list! Pure amusement.
Every few weeks this thing will be posting about collapse of the US economy, while the life just passes by and he keeps stepping into urine puddles in his apartment building while my house and cars just keep getting better. In the U.S.

Interesting, but could/would Wallace have stood up to McCarthy?

Not intentionally, but accidentally? Think 'Dr. Strangelove'.

We did come real close. Some years ago, there was a satelite launched into orbit from scandanavia. It was routine and the Russians were notified, but the notification didn't make it all the way up their chain of command. The launch appeared to their early warning systems as a textbook EMP first strike on Moscow from a nuclear submarine. The Russian's nuclear protocols called for an immediate ICBM retaliation.

They opted for a phone call to Washington instead, and thankfully they believed us over their own early warning systems.

    So, ya, accidents can happen...

As it happens I watched a tv documentary last night on Britain's development of the atom, then the hydrogen bombs, and it's bloody scary. I daresay that all those East and West tests during those years, especially the ones carried out in the atmosphere, hasn't done much for our upper environment either? 'Global warming' anybody??

American soldiers died because firstly American corporations such as Intel, Standard Oli, Ford Motors, General Electric and others supplied the necessary materials for Hitler, and secondly the American army had incompetent leadership.
Recall for example the shameful operation Overlord. Where German disabled people could withstand the much superior forces of the Anglo-Americans. And by the way, "German Disabled" This is not a figure of speech. They opposed the Anglo-American military, really Germans, with health defects. Those who were not subject to full military conscription.
In addition, the atomic bombing of the peaceful Japanese cities, after the Russians defeated the Kwantung Army, did not make sense.

Not. It’s like saying that a suragat in the form of heroin with alcohol flows through your veins. Such a sugatat dulls pain and creates illusions of pleasure. Dollar - unsecured paper. Even the presence of physical gold at Fort Knox raises questions. And not just ordinary people. Even the US government and the Senate cannot achieve an audit of US gold reserves.

Judging by your comment, you and economics are incompatible concepts. But what for you think? It is enough to hang an American flag on the porch and shout "We are an exceptional nation." Is not it?
