Is this a surprise? Americans have been fed propaganda about the 'Evil Empire' since day one. I have yet to hear anything to persuade me that Russia is a threat to me, my country or my way of life, in any way whatsoever. 'Because the government says so', isn't very convincing.

Most of the stuff you wasted billions on is slowly rotting in the Nevada desert. Much of it you never even used. One aircraft carrier? Seems like a sensible move keeping such big, juicy targets to a minimum.

They're not so grave a threat to the west as they are to their immediate neighbors in former Iron Curtain territory, but then with their election meddling and propaganda efforts, they're still a menace even to you and us.

Normal? I'm glad you didn't include the US in your list. 'Normal' nations don't overthrow democracies, start dumb wars they never win, or invade countries which never did them any harm other than showing the middle finger.

Frankly I'm more concerned about America and your serial warmongering, regime manipulation, meddling in foreign elections and overthrowing of democracies. It's no wonder that it's the US, not Russia, which is routinely cited as the gravest threat to world peace.

Tell that to NK who is staring at 3 aircraft carriers each with its own protective and assisting strike force accompanying them.

Aircraft carriers are one of the main reasons the US has the only global conventional response in a short time. Well the only country with a meaningful one. It's too expensive.

The point of my original post is Russia is not a threat to us. Europe can more than handle them

Yes, we can. We count two nuclear powers in Europe which is enough of a deterrent. Three aircraft carriers against one of the world's biggest and best equipped armies, on their own turf? Not much of a threat.

No reason why you can't familiarize yourself with the most horrific anti-human event in world history, carried out through 70 years of the last century. https://www.amazon.com/dp/067407608...ProductDesc=1#product-description_feature_div

Is it your understanding that no civilians were killed in Europe during WWII? Perhaps news of the London Blitz or Stalingrad etc.has not yet reached your part of the world.

Nor the Soviet invasion of Eastern Europe. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...al-war-crime-Russia-Germany-tried-ignore.html

My understanding is that nuclear weapons (weapon of mass desctuction) were not used in Europe. Or you have other information?

Anti-human? I can reel off dozens of 'anti-humans' financed, supported and armed by America. Want some examples? America is just as appalling in terms of the global carnage you have wrought, as Russia was under Communism. Two sides of the same belligerent coin.

So it's more important to you how people die rather than how many are actually killed.

What if they are killed with a handgun rather than a bazooka? Which is your preference for causing death to opponents during wartime?

All imperial powers have done evil ****. Their body counts usually correlate with the extent of their reach. That's why this debate of which power was worse is silly. They were all bad.

The most powerful states murdered and repressed the most people. The Soviets reach was mostly limited to its own sphere. US influence extended beyond the "backyard" to the Middle East to Asia and to Africa. The US government, like every other imperial power before it, is not "holy".

Do you feel what the Americans have done is worse in any way than what the Communists did from birth to death?

The Soviets were anti-human, I even sent you a link for you to read, and you should familiarize yourself with the subject before involving yourself in any debate.

Tell me about Pol Pot and the millions he killed using American money and support. How about the hundreds of thousands killed by America fighting failed and pointless wars? In any case this isn't about numbers, it's about principle. America has no moral high ground to preach from, despite all the cynical rhetoric about 'freedom and democracy'. You want a discussion about familiarity? We're all too familiar with US hypocrisy.

'They were all bad' only if you don't know the difference between good and bad. Deliberately starving the people of the Ukraine, for example, was 'bad'. https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/archives/ukra.html

Helping Britain during WWII was 'good'.

Now to Pol Pot and how the Americans financed and supported him? You must have quite an interesting library.

Of course, it is important how people die- slowly and with heavy pain, or fast. From your post looks like you prefer that people were dying slowly and with consequences, like cancer for further generations.

Wow! You certainly can read between the lines~!

However the test now is to read the actual lines and respond to them. Can you do that?
