Part 29 is a continuation of Post your tough questions pertaining to God/Jesus/Holy Bible and I will do my best to clarify and make sense of it to those who are unaware...I still have questions and comments I haven't responded to in Part 8 thru 28.
Also I might answer questions that are on other members threads and so this will keep me real busy with the many questions that I will answer from my point of view/perspective keeping in line with Scripture.

I don't want my intentions to come across as converting you or whatever lol... but rather clear up things etc... so ask away.

You aren't even answering questions, you're using responses that you probably just picked up from apologist websites. The issue is that those canned apologist fodder have GLARING holes in them that you never address because you're too busy making smug remarks to month old posts.

It is about asking your tough questions regarding Christianity and also my answering/commenting on the thousands upon thousands of numerous posts on these threads. And right now I'm on part 8 pg. 26 where I am commenting on the responses between you and Inc. Go read the very 1st post I start out with on these threads that I generate. I tell you my purpose.

So obviously you are misunderstanding/interpreting this to be a circle jerking with Inc...sorry but you're wrong.

Sorry but you're wrong again, like I said I'm on part 8 pg. 26 and I'm reading the posts closely to understand what's going on.
And so what that I'm responding to previous posts, did you expect me to answer/respond to all the posts made on 28 threads so far? I have said in the past that I will respond to all the posts on these threads of mine that is coherent enough for me to respond to.

And furthermore are you saying what you have said in previous posts are not valid anymore? If that is the case, everytime there is something from you in the past that I bring up just let me know if your comment/comments are not valid anymore in that you have changed your position and so we can see your flip flopping on statements that you have said.

You are entitled to your opinions however I don't agree with them because of their falsehoods.

Interesting. I am still waiting on your response to a question I asked over a year ago. What proof do you have that the resurrection of Jesus actually happened? IMO this is of paramount importance as it is the seminal moment in Christianity. Without the resurrection being true Christianity would be founded upon a lie. So what proof is there for the resurrection of Jesus other than the fallible word of man contained in the Bible?

Aside from the historicity of the Holy Bible that proof Jesus Christ resurrected in fact without the resurrection there will be no Christianity. The other proofs are the archaeological the tomb, the cross, the nails, the shroud, the place, the manuscripts etc. and historical facts on the life, execution and resurrection of Jesus Christ the eye witness accounts and the event that would follow after Christ resurrection.

Constantine will be responsible in expanding Christianity he will support the building of several monasteries, churches and cathedrals the most famous of all is the St. Peter's Basilica. He is instrumental in temporarily stopping the spread of false claims about Christ and united Christianity under Christ.
    Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
    maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
    true God from true God,
    begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
    he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
    and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
    in accordance with the Scriptures.
    He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
    Amen.

Your responses to Incorporeal are the equivalent of "You go girl!". You agree with Incorporeal about something and then laugh about me being wrong. That has nothing to do with answering questions dealing with Christianity, you're just being patronizing.

No, I said you're not reading the context because you aren't. I've already had to correct you on your interpretations of what I said to WanRen, for example.

None of this is proof to me of the resurrection. If you or others see it as proof so be it.

And right here is the strongest evidence for the resurrection.

How many years after the death of Jesus were the account of his death written about? This question may not matter to you but I argue that over time memories can become fuzzy which may or may not have happened to the author of the story of the resurrection.

From a credibility standpoint the Bible is its own worst enemy as it makes many fantastical claims with no actual evidence to back those claims... by my measure of credible evidence anyway. If one says that the Bible is an amalgam of metiphor and fact then this sets up a challenge to separate metiphor and fact. What is metiphor and fact in the Bible? I argue it all depends upon who you ask which hardly speaks of the credibility of the Bible... but of its subjectivity.

Perhaps the eyewitness accounts are correct... perhaps they are not... but there is no way that I know of to prove either way.

Finally I have heard it claimed that there is more than one account of the resurrection. Is that so? And if so do the accounts match?

This is where I leave the forum, apart from an occasional look-in, for around 4 months. I have a lot of OAP's who look to me to grow plants for their gardens. I love gardening and can grow these plants much more cheaply than Garden centre prices. Great for OAP's and it gives me pleasure and exercise. In the next few days the start of 1000+ tiny plugs plants arrive to be checked carefully, potted up, and watered and watched carefully for the next 3 weeks.
Around 15 seed trays to be planted. Perennials overwintered in the garden to be dug and potted for sale. Garden prepared for plants which I grow for next years seed.

So, as one of our very irreverent Irish comedians used to say, 'goodnight, and may your god go with you'.

Happy gardening Trevor and remember to use natural fertilizers as opposed to man-made stuff that can be harmful to other areas of the environment. May the Lord bless you in your endeavor.

    Here is my question.

I consider myself to be a fairly "good" person. I am very empathetic towards others. I give money to charity and try to help others as much as I can. I'm that guy who always gets suckered by those people holding up signs asking for money on the corner. A few weeks ago while going to the store a man rode up to my truck on a bike with two of his kids on the front and back and the other child walking behind. He asked if he could wash my windows for some change. He said he was trying to gather up enough money to buy his son a bike so he didn't have to walk around behind them anymore. I gave him the change I had laying in the truck and told him that I can wash my own windows it's fine. I went inside of the store and stopped for a minute then went to the ATM and walked back outside. I found him somewhere else in the parking lot and drove up to him to "shake his hand". I palmed a few $20 bills and shook his hand. He looked in his hand and broke into tears and his kids did as well after they saw the money. His kids all came over to give me a hug and he kept saying God Bless You, thank you you Angels are real etc. I just smiled and thanked him and drove off.

Now that may have been a complete scam, I don't know, but it may not have been and he may have genuinely needed help. Either way it didn't matter much to me, I won't miss the money I gave him and if he was genuine Im sure it meant much more to him than to me. That's just the sort of person I am, I don't do it because I think "God" is watching me and will be proud of me or anything, I'm Atheist I don't believe in God. I just do it because I feel its the right thing to do and making people happy makes me happy, so I guess in that aspect I am selfish.

I do things like that all the time. The only real "sins" that I commit in life is that I have a potty mouth and I probably drink too much and I have no issues having sex without marriage. But overall I am a very kind and caring person who I believe does much more to help others than many Christians actually do.

If God is real then I was given this mind by him with the free will do use it. Am I then blamed for using it the way that I do? Or was a given this mind of mine in the sense that it's enough rope to hang myself with?

One of the big beliefs in Christianity is empathy and to do for others without expecting anything in return. I do what I do without expecting anything in return because I don't think I'm getting brownie points with God nor do I believe in Karma or anything. I really do just do what I do because I like to help people and it makes me happy doing so. I expect absolutely nothing in return because I don't believe anyone is up there "watching" me do it and will reward me for it later.

My question is this. I believe that I do a lot of good in the world. If God is real, will all of the good that I do get overridden by the simple fact that I don't believe in God? Will the fact that I don't believe Jesus is my Savior be the thing that damns me in the end even though I follow the teachings of Christ far more than many of those who actually believe in Christ?

Thanks to the Bible the truth, the existence and legacy of Jesus Christ was preserved and because of that historians were able to confirm it while enemies of Christ failed to destroy and or eliminate Christ from realty and history.

How many years after Caesar successfully conquered Gaul did Roman scribes or historians started to write about it? There is no question 30 years after Christ execution and resurrection his Apostles and all 1st generation followers would always remember and never forget this one of a life time magnificent event. It would be after all the Apostles and 1st generation Christians have died that we see a rise of false writers. Just like the memories of WWII never faded after 30 years people who were there who fought and experience first hand still remember it would be those who were not there and not of that generation that will forget.

Maybe you can provide some example so that we can discuss your claim. The reality is that the Bible stands out historically about the goodness of God and existence of God that some people especially atheist hate it they hate it because atheist don't have a book that would support their claim that there is no God or that the Bible is what they claim a metaphor.
" They hate us because they ain't us" :)

Eyewitness accounts are the strongest evidence especially with what the Apostles and the early Christians had to go through they have nothing to gain only death in believing and worshiping Jesus Christ there is no empire, no franchise, no business sense to believe but because it was true that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that God exist those Apostles and Christians accepted that truth.

Maybe you can provide more information of that claim that there is two accounts of the resurrection?

As an avid gardener have you ever stop and wonder how amazing and wondrous those plants and flowers are? How well created they are? How can great gardeners can re-create or rearrange plants and flowers based on their own creativeness? Happy gardening.

Those scamers will use God because they know what God represents and that is goodness but if they knew their market are atheist they'll use something else they'll probably invokes Steven Hawkins. Or what slogan or material would they use to scam atheist for charity?

Christ said; "Father forgive them for they do not know what they do" " Today you will be with me in Paradise"

    1. Believing there is God and when one die they learn there is God. = Enjoy the fruits of eternal happiness
    2. Believing there is God and when one die there is no God. = nothing all is vanished
    3. Not believing there is God and when one die they learn there is God = missed out on God's eternal happiness
    4. Not believing there is God and when one die there is no god. = nothing all is vanished.

Doing good and believing in God you have nothing to lose.

Here's the thing. If God is real then I'm pretty sure he is smart enough to see through my lies. Sure I can go to Church every Sunday and pray to the Lord and play the game. But if I don't truly BELIEVE in God in my heart then its all a facade. I can't change the way that I feel. I can't change my mind. As much as I try to I just cannot accept that Jesus was the son of God, it doesn't make logical sense to me. And nothing is going to change my mind unless I am given concrete proof of God's existence.

What am I supposed to do?

Nice opinion that does nothing to prove the story of the resurrection as being true. Let me make something clear... I am not saying the resurrection did or did not happen as I frankly was not there so I do not know. But when I rely upon the hypothesis that relies upon the fewest assumptions I land on the side of it probably never happened... pending new evidence which may or may not change my mind.

Moot point as no one has ever come to me and said I will burn in hell if I reject Caesar. As for ancient writings... I take them with a grain of salt as I understand they are often written from the perspective of a single individual which may or may not typify the view of others in general. Then there is the old saying that history is often written by the victor which reveals a bias.

The best records have multiple accounts form many different sources... like WWII. This cannot be said of the story of the resurrection as there were what... 2 or 3 witnesses? Did they follow the body of Jesus from the cross all the way to the tomb? Did they witness the body being placed in the tomb? Did the eye witnesses see the actual ascension or did they witness only the unsealing of an empty tomb? Were the witnesses in view and awake during the entire time the body of Jesus is said to be in the tomb? (Sorry, been a long time since I last had my nose in the Bible.)

    We already are... the resurrection.

An object demonstration to the subjectivity of reality.

Not need as you are a Christian and I trust if there were more than one account you would tell me about it. So I must assume that the claim of multiple accounts are false.

God's greatest creation is humans if God wants humans to be just like all the other creatures then God would not have gave us free will but most of all intelligence and creative powers and abilities. It because we were given this special gift that we were able to expand the world the universe we are able to feel, experience and love. God has come to us as Jesus Christ to proof to us He exist and in spite of that many still do not believe including those who persecuted him.

John 20:29 Jesus said unto him, “Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed. Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed.”

Today many of those who have not witness the holocaust do not believe.

You have nothing to lose to believe.

you have nothing to lose by believing in Vishnu, so why don't you? he is the one true god, and the evidence is all there in the writings.

It's not that I don't WANT to believe it's that I CAN'T believe. Sure I can "say" that I do but my heart won't mean it and it would be a facade.

You have to understand that it's not just as simple as believing for me. I need proof. This is like me asking you to just believe in the Roman Gods. You can say that you do but you know in your heart you wouldn't actually mean it so it would be a lie. And since God is omnipotent I'm pretty sure he would see right through my lying heart.

My brain, that God has given me, simply cannot comprehend the aspect of Jesus as the son of God. How am I supposed to believe if I CAN'T believe?

Happy gardening! I'm right behind you, here, preparing beds for autumn plantings. I only grow food (I won't expend effort and resources on non-food-bearing plants - but I don't hold it against the ornamentals gardener to do so - better that than watching tv!), but like you, I give surplus to elderly neighbours who can't otherwise afford organic produce. Also some who live alone and have a tendency to 'forget' to maintain a healthy diet. This past week I've been able to make quite a few parcels of the last of the lettuce, celery, strawberries, and tomatoes. The cold weather is coming!

I'll take a punt and say Dave Allen is your irreverent Irish comedian :)

    - - - Updated - - -

I wouldn't worry about it - hardly any Christians actually believe anyway.

Without the Bible no one who would have known about the resurrection. Because it was recorded in the Bible scientist, scholars and archaeologist started their search and they found and learn the reality of Jesus Christ the events, the crucifixion, and most of all the resurrection. We were all not there when Alexander the Great conquered Egypt and build an vast empire, we were not there during WWI or WWII but many of us know it did happened because of eye witness accounts.

No longer will you burn in hell for rejecting Caesar but for those who existed during Caesars time many did suffered, burn and crucified for rejecting Caesar. Thanks to modern research materials and abilities we learn about ancient history we learn to separate myth from facts that is why we accept that Caesar did conquered Gaul, wage massive wars that reach as far as what is now England. We learn that Jesus Christ is real the events are real the Apostles their lives and their tragic deaths were real and we learn about their ministry spreading Christianity not for franchises, not for economic gain, or empire or power but all for God.

Many different sources and only the ones that are verify to conform with facts and reality were accepted as historical WWII. With the Resurrection the disappearance of Jesus Christ body and later his presence with his Apostles were solid evidence of his resurrection and later modern science attempt to explain how it could happen.

Yes they did, women of Christ, John and later Joseph (from Arimathea) and Nicodemus would personally bury Jesus Christ in the tomb Pilate will assign Roman guards to guard the tomb because of rumors that Christ followers may steal his body.

Yes they did Joseph (from Arimathea) and Nicodemus.

The Roman guards were the first to witness what they did not understood was the resurrection then other eye witnesses women of Christ first discovered Jesus body was gone and later Jesus would appear to his Apostles in person alive!

Yes they were awake when they buried Jesus in the tomb.

We are not Christ unless you are talking about spiritual resurrection.

Abraham Lincoln: In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man's welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it.

There is only one account and since you do not know of any accounts then yes I agree with you what ever other accounts of the resurrection that you have heard are false.

Alexander the Great and WWII do not make fantastical claims of the paranormal (that I know of) nor will I be condemned to hell for disputing them. This is the difference between the Bible and other historical accounts. The fantastical claims of the Bible like the resurrection has not been proven as fact by my measure of proof or fact. Proving a man named Jesus walked the Earth is fine, proving a man named Jesus was crucified is fine, its when the claim that he is resurrected and ascends to Heaven where things become fantastical and yet to be proven.

If one believes the apostles to be credible... which I do not. Perhaps their account is spot on fact, perhaps its all made up... I see no evidence either way so I land on the side that requires the fewest assumptions that being the resurrection is a story... pending any new evidence which may or may not change my mind.

    Was that attempt successful?

That is not what I asked. What I asked was; Were the witnesses in view and awake during the entire time the body of Jesus is said to be in the tomb? Upon my reading of the scripture the answer is no.

So what does this mean to me? That the chain of evidence is broken. Perhaps the Roman soldiers disobeyed Pilate and emptied the tomb themselves. Perhaps its all a story and never happened. Perhaps it did happen but no empirical evidence is left to prove it. Are there Roman writings of the event (the resurrection) that support the Biblical account?

A mans opinion which does not prove the resurrection.
