On nearly every college campus the word "Republican" connotes fool. That's why speakers like Yiannopoulos cause riots if allowed on to universities.

correction, it's the lib/prog's indoctrinated intolerance that creates riots, not the guest speaker...

apparently you live in a fact free world...Glaciers everywhere are in retreat including the Himilayas...
    Glacial Response

Glaciers, ice, and snow cover 17% of the Greater Himalayan region and are receding more rapidly than the world average (Dyurgerov & Meier 2005; IPCC 2007a). The rate of retreat has increased in recent years (Ren et al. 2004; Liu et al. 2006; Zemp et al. 2008). If current warming continues, glaciers located on the Tibetan Plateau are likely to shrink from 500,000 km2 (the 1995 baseline) to 100,000 km2 or less by the year 2035 (Cruz et al. 2007; Ye & Yao 2008).

out of 19 polar bear regions in 17 regions their numbers are in decline, basically wherever sea ice is disappearing...
    https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11656-climate-myths-polar-bear-numbers-are-increasing/

no flooded miami streets, maybe you should tell people in Miami it's a hoax that it's not really happening [IMG]

al gore never made predictions he's not a scientist he just relayed scientific estimates, clearly the longer out the timeline the more difficult the accuracy...but as yearly observation has confirmed arctic will be ice free relatively soon much of it has reached that point already which is the reason for 17 polar bear regions declining populations...

you're clearly not educated you're not even capable of doing a simple web search...

    @wyly

We are all going to die, slow horrible deaths because of global warming.

    Get use to it.

And while you are at it.

Of-course, there are reliably Republican schools like Liberty & Bob Jones universities where creationism is still taught.

    • solar activity
    • volcanic activity
    • tectonic plate movements
    • wobble wobble the earth's a weeble
    • planetary orbital fluctuations/declination
    • stellar locale of the solar system itself
    • all other heat sources, including the ones that make co2
hint: the 'heat sources'... it's not their co2 production , it's their btu production

so you're saying that the main stream education system, is in fact, teaching them to be violent when they are approached by something they don't like or agree with... thanks for admitting that...

as for me, i was 'taught' that if i don't like the movie, don't go inside and watch it... pretty simple philosophy... however from what i've read of your posts, you'd go inside anyway, just to tear down the screen while injuring other patrons because they don't agree with you... is that correct? explain...

Vancouver has had no snow this year and few days where it gets below freezing, even at night.

I call it "dummy rights". Republicans resent the daily ridicule and criticism and can't understand why other Americans won't even take a selfie with them. But it is more than just being ignorant when someone like Trump is placed in the White House by the GOP. The shame must be shared by all Republicans in a similar manner that Germans were shamed by allowing the Nazis. I'm sure there will be a day [probably soon] that you will not publicly admit to being a Republican especially if you live in California.

solar activity has been down for decades while temps have been rising
short term volcanic activity causes cooling not warming...
tectonic movement takes millions of years, not decades...
earth wobble, same...hundreds of thousands of years and very gradual change
planetary orbit, same again a very slow process in tens of thousands of years in duration not decades...
    stellar location
other sources  in other words you got nothing...you forgot two...Global conspiracy by socialists to steal your money and magic....

which is why I ask all deniers the cause of this warming event and I never get an answer...they can google all day and night and they come up with nothing, only denial

Yes, and understanding the consequences of global warming would be prudent as well. If you burn a hole through the ceiling during the winter I don't think your house is going to be a-swelter despite the fire.

Yes, it thawed in the evening. That pipe wasn’t the main. In general, my house stood out very well.

It’s going to be 50F on Sunday! :)

I’ve read somewhere that some idiots burned their house down when they tried to thaw their pipes with a blow tourch.

I guess when you make such definitive statement of free thinking, you forget that your history of partisan bumpersticker postings is there for all to see.

The bumperstickers are free, no thinking required. That is why they are so effective with certain demographics.

I don't know enough about the Paris deal to comment... and I doubt that you know enough either. My guess is that if I was to study the Paris accord - I would find many dumb things.

It is not that I think climate change is not happening - that is just a fact. The problem is that "climate change" is not at the top of the list of environmental issues affecting the planet. It is 4th or perhaps even 5th on my list - Yet - it dwarfs all these other issues to the point where we are ignoring the top environmental issues.

Pollution of the Oceans is the #1 environmental issue. You probably don't care so I won't get into the details but "Climate Change" does not come close to this issue.

Agree there are multiple environmental crises but Trump took us out of coordination with every nation except a few Arab countries. We can not solve problems by denying they exist.

That is probably true - as stated - I do not know enough about the Paris accord to comment. What I do know is that the global leaders of the environmental movement are doing some very dumb things for some very dumb reasons.

Case in point: Moving from incandescent to compact florescent.

Remember - Pollution of the Oceans with heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants and fertilizer is the #1 environmental issue. I am not saying this as a guess or a on a whim. As an applied Scientist - who worked in environmental engineering for more than a decade as an alternative remediation specialist = alternatives to "dig and dump - which is when you dig up the contaminant and move it to a land fill - essentially just moving the problem from one place to another" = things like bioremediation, chemical oxidation and other technologies which actually remove or degrade the contaminant - I have sat at tables full of experts at various conferences and have discussed this topic.

Never has anyone gainsayed the claim "Ocean pollution is the #1 environmental issue" ... this is just a fact in serious academic circles.

If we really wanted we could turn off the CO2 tap (meaning make dramatic reductions in a short period of time). Good luck filtering the Oceans.

No doubt that warming up the earth will cause some dramatic changes - but - the Ocean is responsible for something like 60-70% of the oxygen we breath and a whole lot of food.

More than two cans of Tuna a week and you exceed the mercury guidelines for pregnant women. Granted - this guideline is rather low but, the point is that we are hitting limits.

So Yes - compact florescent is more energy efficient than incandescent. The problem however is that CF bulbs contain mercury. These end up in landfills which leach into rivers and oceans .. or - in the case of the majority of the world - China, India and so on - end up directly in the ocean.

The response is "well we can recycle". Well that's a nice platitude that ignores reality. The reality the majority of the world does not recycle.

This is just the tip of the iceberg though. When you look at CO2 - Industrialization and population growth are the biggest factors by far. I can get into this but this post is already long.

I am a land lubber so I dont pay much attention to the oceans

But with do many people in the world I know there are some problems
