Its a good thing Jesus doesn't say "not to bear false witness against others", or this guy would be in real trouble with his God!

I don't know if the ring thing is true---but Pat Roberson is actually a credible guy. Meaning---he isn't right ALL the time, but he doesn't make stuff up. Much of what he says is taken out of context...or its actually true, but simply not well known. And it is true that the homosexual community wants to keep under wraps any issues it has. The gay community doesn't want the government to know its HIV rate. Its also true that their is a problem with gay people actually trying...yes TRYING to have people give them the disease. Its like a sick fad. Sounds crazy---but true. So....the ring being used to cut other people.....personally its worth a little research before a dismissal.

I can't help thinking that if a gift giver wants to give a gift to a bug chaser---why isn't it possible for a gift giver to want to give a gift to those who aren't necessarily expecting the gift?

    That's sexual contact.

His advice was actually sound/sane to be begin with. He said the lady who gave the ride to the HIV+ man shouldn't worry as long as she isn't having sex with him.

And then regurgitates a bat(*)(*)(*)(*) crazy idea he probably read from some ridiculous anti-gay website.

Claims like that don't deserve to go unanswered. They can be really damaging to gay people. Pat is clearly inciting hatred/fear.

He biologically made a factual statement, those rings expose the subcutaneous level of the skin, or hypo-dermis, which is where transmission of infections occurs.

Pat Robertson is completely nuts and thinks about gay sex more than people who have gay sex.

    Pat Robertson on the Ridiculist:
    http://theweek.com/article/index/24...ocks-pat-robertsons-gay-aids-rings-conspiracy

He says gays are demon-possessed, it's in a man's nature to cheat on his wife- and probably her fault if he wanders, 30% of women engage in pornography and people who engage in martial arts "inhale" a demon beforehand (I kid you not!).

    Ahhh.. what now?

Have you ever attempted to listen to his show? Or do you just quote what others say?

I'm not quoting what others say, I'm quoting what HE said.

He may actually be a 'nice' guy, he may actually say a lot of stuff that is factually correct, but I'd rather not get my information from someone who thinks I'm possessed by a demon.

Honestly, after watching that video if he told me the sky was blue I'd probably have to check. The guy is INSANE.

Well...we believe in demons and we believe that people can be possessed by them. Possession is a serious thing...and straight people can be as possessed as a gay person. So I may not agree with him that gay people are possessed by simply being gay...but I think anybody who doesn't walk with God is heavily influenced and tricked by satan and his demons. Christians who take the Bible seriously believe in that---and its something that non-Christians simply need to deal with.

Christians who believe in the Bible are the viewers of his show...and the few times I've seen the 700 club---I've been impressed with the guy. I would say that you shouldn't be watching a show that upsets you.

It doesn't upset me, it amuses me. :)

He's actually a really funny guy in many ways. It's just sad that people will believe anything that comes out of his mouth... Like the ring claim. Now he's backing down from those comments.

Stuff like that is dangerous. It's a good job people get fact-checked and held to account.

I was going to be really heartless and mean in my response, but you were too nice, so I decided to say "To each, his own". ;)

The man once said Haiti is the way it is now because they made a pact with Satan to get rid of the French. Not literally the devil, the actual Devil...

Your Right Wing slip is showing.

HIV requires getting INTO the bloodstream, and the "Hypodermis" would be very poor at that.

Its not any biology that makes his vicious smears completely evil, anyway, its proclaiming to vulnerable people that gays are trying to infect THEM with AIDS through "rings".

If a hand shake can draw blood with a sharp ring on, how is that not likely biologically to transmit AIDS to the intended victim?

This is a potential hazard to unsuspecting souls, who don't want to appear homophobic, to shake a homosexual's hand, and then unknowingly be infected by this means.

OK, but if you were in San Francisco at a business meeting and you saw a group of guys with rings on their hands would you be eager to shake their hands?

Because HIV does not easily transmit through even a cut on skin. A cut that does not penetrate the entire epidermis is even LESS likely.

A cut from a person with HIV requires THEY ALSO be cut and be bleeding all over YOUR cuts as well, to even begin the extremely miniscule chance of an HIV infection from this nutcase scenario.

This truly homoPHOBIC whackjob theory of yours and Robertson's is nothing but a vicious lying smear to give the sick homophobe bigots an excuse to publically humiliate, demean, and exclude anyone they care to call a "homosexual" from public life, jobs, and give excuses for roundups and liquidation.

Got a SINGLE example of this?

Are you denying that a customized ring can break the hypo dermis of both parties, which then results in transmission of disease by means of contact between broken skin?

    How is HIV spread?

"Contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes and HIV-infected blood or blood-contaminated body fluids."

I don't see why the gay community wouldn't want the world to see their HIV rate. For one, there isn't some grand organization of gays, working together to subvert the public will - they're a bunch of individuals. Secondly, it's well known that "releasing" in the anus is more likely to cause HIV. So what? Heterosexual couples do it all the time.

    I don't see the motive.

This smear was around in the late 80s and was debunked then. Shaking hands with someone is a horrible way to try to transmit the virus. While it is possible, it is not likely to cause a high rate of transmission. Robertson is just another conservative republican watching the world grow beyond his bigotry. He now is simply like Granpa Simpson vomiting out nonsense to continue to draw in his blood money.
