I decided last month sometime to take a break from PF, but I was watching a video a couple days ago on the subject of evil corporations, and one of those was described as a pharmaceutical company that produces no new products of its own, but buys up smaller pharmaceutical companies with patented drugs and then jacks up the prices of those drugs to ridiculous levels. This bugged me for a while, but now I have an idea, and I don't know where else to post it, so I'm posting it here. Anyone in the Trump administration or anyone who knows anyone in the Trump administration, take note.

The solution to such predatory practices is to make patents nontransferable. This could be done with a one line change to the federal patent law. Make all patents the property of the person or company that files the patent application, and make the patent expire on the death or dissolution of the patent owner. Not only would this solve the problem of the pharmaceutical company mentioned above, it would also prevent similar practices by other major industries, such as the auto industry, and by foreign countries, such as China and Japan. The owner of the patent would still have the power to use and license the use of the patent to others, but s/he or it would not be able to transfer ownership of the patent to any other person or organization. Not only would this protect consumers, but it would also protect inventors from those intent on seizing control of their patented product. No more would you read of an inventor who was paid $500 for his patented idea while the person who bought it made billions. Anyone who gained the use of a patented product would have to include the inventor in his good fortune. Let's make this happen.

Just take a look at KITE Pharma and Arie Bellegrun for the utmost example. Guy comes over here from Israel, sets up shop. Goes to school, works his way into Cancer center, steals a type of genetic cell engineering process, builds company with Help of other Jewish Billionaires. Gets the drug/process thru phase II trial and becomes an instant billionaire.

No one can possibly afford the $350,000.00 it costs to save a life, but they got lots of free PR off of Novartis and U of Penn saving 20 children. So one would think, great for all mankind, right ? Wrong, only if you are dirt poor and medicare (you and I) pay for it. Or have extra ordinary Insurance, or of course, are filthy rich and or connected to that class of people. Out side on .05% of the people that can afford it, the 5% welfare, no regular person will see it.
Gilead bought it, and not via predatory, but with lots of money they made charging astronomical amounts for their other drugs. Honestly, it is a horrible time to be alive in this country.
Outsdie of 1945 - 1985, nothing has been decent. FDR did that by taking from the rich and giving to everyone.

Today, the right wing think tanks flood sites like this one with the BS they pass off as real, a lot of propaganda that lies to gullible Americans. Kudlow, Cramer, FOX FAUX news, and main stream media play the other side. All to keep people in check. Get to where you could actually make a difference and you will disappear.
