I'm from Upstate NY (Schenectady, NY)
Here to debate politics - of course!
Fervent supporter of Donald J Trump
I predict he will be elected in 2020
American Patriot - Honor the constitution
    Major frustrations with Barack Obama

I believe the only way forward is for our nation to heal from the wounds created by Clinton - Bush - Obama legacy and the time to heal is NOW. 2020 will be a groundbreaking election and I predict a landslide victory for Donald Trump. We have come this far and we have so much potential as a nation - I think we are about to realize our true potential under Trump leadership. Already, we are seeing the nation's crime rate dip. We are seeing steady employment across the board, including great numbers for blacks and minorities. The economic engine has never been better.

I am 34 years old and suffering from a lower back injury. Because of this I have limited mobility and I'm out of work until I can get surgery in a few months, so I spend a lot of my time online. It is my hope that we can figure out this game of politics to work best FOR THE PEOPLE. Because this is a nation BY THE PEOPLE and we will be restored to our former greatness under Trump leadership.

    God Bless,
    I_M

Welcome. I already see you've been smeared as an "antisemite" due to your criticism of Adam Schiff, in spite of your avatar. That was pretty amusing.

Welcome. I would just point out that GDP averages were better under Carter than Trump. Also better under Clinton and Reagan. So your claim that the economic engine has never been better ... well, we understand you are emotionally invested in Trump, but it's good to step back for an actual perspective on things.

    https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/government-debt-to-gdp

This is the highest debt to GDP ratio since WWII ended.

The Dow increased by 250% under Obama
Obama saw a net increase of 850,000 jobs added each month.
The GDP grew by almost 6% under Obama

The current economic expansion in the U.S. is the longest uninterrupted period of growth in its modern recorded history.

The stock market and unemployment rates have reached record levels.
I stand by my statement that our economic engine has never been better.

And keep in mind that what we have today 'despite trump' was started in 2009 by Obama. trump is riding on Obama's coat tails despite the fact trump's trying to destroy anything Obama ever accomplished.

I'm just warning everyone right now, I do not handle Obama with kid gloves.

Obama was the destructor in chief. I mean seriously, who creates a 5 billion dollar website? And it didn't even work! Obama created over 4000 EPA regulations geared toward crippling our energy sector. I would hardly say Trump is riding Obama's coat tails. Trump is undoing years of a concerted effort to destroy the American economy. The gig is up - it didn't work. Trump is hardly riding Obama's coat tails considering he has removed an average of 10 regulations for each new one he's created. Trump is a master of the economy - he makes excellent deals towards putting American's and America first - something that has not happened in a long time - this is why the economy is so strong, absolutely nothing to do with Obama. Obama is the inverse proportion to that of Donald J Trump. (see second link)

What's funny is the left crediting Obama, he left office over two years ago. If things were headed south right now, they'd blame the President in a millisecond and they damn well know it, too.

    Hi and welcome, Iron Merc!

Here's hoping you get half a dozen opinions. Seems like I've heard a ton of horror stories about back surgeries gone wrong.

I have a herniated disk in L5-S1. This is pressing against my sciatic nerve which sends shooting pain down my right leg if I bend down or sit in a chair (or if I walk to fast). So it's a delicate balance right now. But they can definitely operate on it, so I'm confident in my doctors abilities, having already got a second opinion.

    Trump reminds me of Gaddafi.

The parallels are quite creepy. Gaddafi was crackers, he was a vain, capricious peacock of a man, he was obsessed with women, he even had a ghost writer invent a ‘Green Book’ of his personal philosophy, just as Trump had his business manual written for him.

Gaddafi was vengeful towards his opponents but his views on the Middle East were odd, to say the least. He once advocated a one-state solution to Israel and Palestine which – in all seriousness – he suggested should be called ‘Israel-tine’. A bit like moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Gaddafi had NO education.. Trump has very little.

    Trump is the New Gaddafi

I was trying to think a few hours ago – after his shameful, outrageous, insane breaking of a solemn international treaty – just who Donald Trump reminded me of. I used to think about the boastful, gung-ho racist Theodore Roosevelt, the ‘Rough Rider’ who enjoyed war (and threats). But Theodore Roosevelt actually did win the Nobel Peace Prize. And then I realised.

The political leader who most resembles Trump is the late Colonel Gaddafi of Libya.

Trump’s White House is now like Gaddafi’s tent, which the Libyan leader took with him everywhere. Trump’s late-night television viewing was not unlike Gaddafi’s insistence that business must be done in his tent. Gaddafi’s handshake was legendary – so was his kiss from Tony Blair, who was as obsequious to Gaddafi in Libya as Theresa May was to Trump in Washington. Much good did it do Blair or May.

Gaddafi ran his business dealings through his family – now there’s a thought – and even maintained good relations with Russia. His speeches were interminable – he liked the sound of his own voice – and although he constantly lied, his audience was forced to listen and to fear his wrath.

Above all, Gaddafi was completely divorced from reality. If he lied, he believed his own lies. He believed that he kept his promises. He believed in the world he wanted to believe in, even if this was non-existent. His Great Man Made River Project was supposed to Make Libya Great Again.
