House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, told the Washington Post, “I’m not for impeachment. This is news. I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”

"And he's just not worth it," she quickly added.

In this context, emphasis on in this context, and I rarely agree with Pelosi, but I must agree with her here. If for no other reason that it is far too early to even consider it.

Another key issue is the Republican Senate, a body filled with Trump Republicans. With barely a whimper they have gone along with every lunatic policy, every lunatic statement, and every lunatic tweet Trump has made, from scrapping an agreement that permanently barred Iran from making a nuke to Trump's high tariffs (the GOP is the free trade party) to shutting down the government over a wall that Trump promised Mexico would pay for.

The Trump Republican filled Senate is even going to go along with Trump's scheme to usurp a power granted to Congress by our Constitution, the power of the purse. That is positively surreal.

In that context, it is practically inconceivable that the 67 Senators would find Trump guilty of a misspelled word in a tweet let alone "high crimes and misdemeanors."

Within the current context, the Mueller report is not out yet. However, it is expected out any week now. Note Pelosi said, "unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan." In others words, something within the Mueller report or the House investigations that is so compelling that it would cause Trump Republican heads to turn.

Theoretically, that is possible, but not likely.

However, the Mueller report is likely to contain a great deal of information politically damaging to Trump, and the Democrats will have nearly two years to ensure that every American voter hears about it. It is entirely conceivable that the disclosures would be so critical as to make it politically impossible for Trump to run in 2020.

That would make convicting Trump on impeachment charges moot. He will be removed from power.

That is all the majority of Americans want. After all, what harm can this idiot do in two years?

she's tryin to save face, she & the dnc knew there was never anything bad that trump did during nor after the election...

every darn accusation was for incitement and disparagement aimed at dividing the country enough, so that that it gives a chance for them in 2020... that's it, nothing more and all the loons on the left fell for it, hook line & sinker...

Yep she is just trying to hide the embarrassment of the democrats being wrong for the last two years but the damage is done.

When Trump walks out of this just fine the democrats are going to be looking very bad but they did it to themselves.

Trump did nothing wrong? Are you serious?

Allow me just one example. In June 2016, Trump's son, Trump's son-in-law, and Trump's campaign manager met four Russian operatives in Trump's home, Trump Tower, to get dirt on Clinton.

Are you saying Trump knew nothing about the meeting with the Russian operatives? That is hilarious. That is about as gullible as it gets.

Trump isn't going to walk out just fine except in the minds of his already loony followers. The only thing he may escape is direct evidence on his part of collusion. Already enough evidence of sleezy behaviors of those around him including his family, his campaign manager and his personal lawyer among others. And proof for sure of his cheating on Melania and bribing his strumpets. And we haven't even started on his supposed financial sucesses which show increasing evidence of being influenced by Rusdian money.

Trump will only ever look just fine only in the minds of the morally blind.

Are you sure? It seems to me that Donald Trump is not someone people in his inner circle want to bring potentially bad or controversial news to.

Firstly I think she realises that the evidence just isn't there, secondly I think she remembers how Clinton's popularity soared after he was impeached. I think the DNC's intent is just to keep muckraking in order to win the election and that's not a bad strategy.

The discredited Trump dossier came from Russia. If it is illegal for one it's illegal for both. If it's legal for one it's legal for both

So Muller is in fact investigating the Hillary Clinton campaign for collusion with the Russians over the Steele dossier? Because couldn’t that be considered like foreign interference, or something like that?

Clearly she isn’t for it. Anyone that’s been paying somewhat attention knows there is no bases for it. Theyvknow the mueller report is gonna be a nothing burger, and the entire point of the House investigations is political motivated witch hunts.

According to Trump's fans, all the good things will happen sometime in the future and there is always an "if."

"If" the Mueller report is not a condemnation of Trump, "Trump walks out of this just fine."

Keep in mind what I said. It is not necessary that there is evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors. If it is politically damaging to Trump, that could be the end of his power and he becomes a lame duck President no one will listen to. Republicans will go searching for another candidate for 2020. Already they are paying very little attention to what he says and does, and the Republican Senate is very likely to pass a Democratic resolution overturning Trump's decision to declare a national emergency.

This has been a political witch hunt from the begining. There has been no crime uncovered, just a lot of chit slinging. That is what liberals do.

There are several reasons why the Democratic leadership is toning down the clamor for impeachment by freshman Congressmen and women and a couple others like Rep. Al Green, TX, who has been calling for Trump's impeachment for a year now.

    They recall 1998.

Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich led the charge for the impeachment of Bill Clinton in 1998. In November of that year, the Democrats picked up five seats in the House although the Republicans still maintained majority control. The results were a particular embarrassment for Gingrich, who, before the election, had been reassured by private polling that Clinton's scandal would result in Republican gains of up to thirty House seats. The poor showing by Republicans caused a reprimand from the House for Gingrich's ethics violation and pressure from Republican colleagues resulted in Gingrich's resignation from the speakership on November 6, 1998. Gingrich resigned altogether from the House two months later on January 3, 1999.

Polls conducted during 1998 and early 1999 showed that only about one-third of Americans supported Clinton's impeachment or conviction. However, one year later, in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll 57% approved of the Senate's decision to keep him in office and two thirds of those polled said the impeachment was harmful to the country.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_of_Bill_Clinton

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt_Gingrich

Despite the efforts of young Congresswomen and Green, the Democratic leadership wants no part of that kind of a fiasco.

Trump wants to be impeached. Everything he does, every stupid thing he says, is geared toward that goal. He will be the star of a monumental T.V. drama played out daily, and he will benefit from the martyrdom.

The Democratic leadership is banking on the Mueller report. Not to provide evidence of impeachment, but to characterize Trump as damaged goods. The Democrats will have months to advertise all the faults of the Republican President as reported by Mueller and the House investigations. This practically insures a Democratic victory in 2020.

2020 is the prize. In the Democratic view, everything they do is directed toward that goal.

Compare this to a failed attempt to remove him from office -- a verdict nearly guaranteed by the Trump Republican Senate -- which could make Trump a martyr and cause sympathy for him.

Much like what happened in 1998.

Talieb, Omar, and AOC are exactly the three I am talking about. Those three are doing everything they can to ensure Trump's victory in 2020.

They are why the Democratic leadership are speaking up. Those three fools are getting a lot of attention from Trump, Trump's fans on PF, Trump Republicans in Congress, and the conservative media, and they are too dumb to notice.
