In publicly exposing his demands for the wall, trump exposed his weakening position.

Trump publicly owned that this shutdown would be his fault. He also told Nancy and Chuck that the new NAFTA deal would pay for the wall (ROFL).

 

Shut it down. Who cares. It's not like it really shuts down. Technically it shuts down every day at 5.

I thought it was awesome how Democrats are willing to shut down the government to protect open borders and illegal immigration.

Democrat solution = sanctuary country

That failure of a leader led the Democratic Party to their ruin, and if not for the apathy of the US Citizenry, the Democrats would be the whigs.

But let's put it like this: Even if Trump's a criminal who orders a holocaust-like event, there will still be Republican voters.

 

No one cares? The US loses millions in revenue every time the government shuts down. Thousands of people go without necessities or work every time the government shuts down.

 

Meanwhile trumpettes are raging on their keyboards at the notion of trump's masculinity could ever be questioned, right steve?

 

How does the US lose money when the government stops spending for a few days? Are there government owned factories producing wealth that I don't know about?

 

The answer is complex and I would suggest a simple Google search for more information, but here is a really basic reason:

Government employees sign contracts to be paid a salary for the year, right? Well that contract is still legally binding regardless of whether those folks are actually able to work because of reasons beyond their control (like a shutdown). So all of those people are still owed money, but are producing zero work product for the US government.

 

There are no government employees that produce wealth. So nothing is lost. Yes, they still get paid. But they are temporarily unable to interfere with private enterprise which does produce wealth. The answer is not complex.

 

The US Treasury actually prints money, so not really sure what is a more classic example of producing wealth.

And seriously guy, you are not being rational to argue that only the private sector can produce wealth.

 

Trump called the democrats bluff

A republican career swamp rat fears a government shutdown so its a good threat for democrats to use against them

But trump called their bluff and put dems on the wrong side of the border security issue

He is holding more cards here than pelosi and schumer

 

Except that more Americans dont want the wall AND more Americand dont want the government to shut down. And the fact that trump keeps reducing the amount of money he is requesting AND the fact that the individuals upon whom he relies in the House and Senate also care about being able to blame the other side for any shutdown.

So what cards do you think he is holding again?

It won't matter. Donald Trump has been caught out in "lies" repeatedly but has an army of supporters prepared to reinterpret what he said.

 

LOL...Trump has the House and the Senate and had 2 years and could not secure funding for his border wall from his own party.
