If it were simply the consequences of elections, then McConnell would be following the same rules today with Trump in case of another SCOTUS vacancy, but McConnell already said he'd fill it no matter how close to the election. That's overly politicizing what should be an automated government process. Many times I've read about how FDR did wrong trying in the 1930s to "pack the Supreme Court." FDR failed & earned a black mark in history for trying. McConnell is now doing exactly what FDR is hounded for by historians, yet I hear no objections out there from Republicans. If we care about the Constitution, we should also care that the system put into place by that Constitution actually functions as smoothly as possible without unnecessary political polarization. McConnell has proven himself (along with many Republicans) to be more loyal to party & ideology than to the country & the Constitution. Kentucky needs to wake up & stop sending McConnell to Washington--for the sake of the nation.

Wow, Nancy says she wants to see her President in jail and rabid crazies like Maxine are screaming incoherent nonsense and you don't think that's causing any of the disfunction that we're seeing. So if you believe McConnell broke the law perhaps you could tell us which law you believe he broke?

For years, politicians & historians have told us FDR did wrong trying in the 1930s to pack the Supreme Court. Some say it was illegal. All have said it was the wrong thing to do. Yet, today, McConnell is actually packing our courts in a very concentrated way, and I hear no one talking about it. I feel McConnell's treatment of Obama & Obama's last nominee to the SCOTUS in 2016, was far from the spirit of the law based on the intent of the Constitution. His defiant promise to process any new nominees of Trump's at any time, even in an election year, shows a brazen attitude of politicization toward our courts that shouldn't be there. I don't know if it breaches legality, but it certainly stretches moral & ethical boundaries.

Regarding Pelosi's recent comment that she wanted to see Trump in jail, remember that's after Pelosi & every other Democrat in America have heard Trump & the Republicans chant "lock her up" over & over again for about 3 years already, and are not happy about it. Why is it OK for Trump & the Republicans to be so rude & offensive, while attacking Pelosi for one recent comment?

You would better to qualify that statement with "All [on the left side of the aisle] said it was the wrong thing to do. And we both know that every one of those Dems would have done the same if the shoe was on the other foot. It is not a matter of law but of the Senate rules and it falls within the rules of the Senate.
Lock Her Up is perhaps an example on the other side of the aisle promoting disfunction, but to suggest that the Dems, with Nancy at the helm, bare no responsibility in the current political disfunction pushes all credulity.

I don't know how many bills have passed the house under Pelosi this year, but I do know that McConnell isn't allowing almost any of them to be discussed in the Senate, much less get a vote. That's pure obstructionism. Can you offer examples of Pelosi obstructing?

Uh yeah the obvious one is the wall. In the past there was support among Dems for barrier funding. Because that is a signature issue with DT, Nancy won't allow a single dollar in a compromise bill.

I'm not certain of the exact date, but around Nov-Dec 2017, Pelosi & the Democrats joined with Republicans to pass a bill giving Trump about $25 billion--full funding for Trump's wall, in exchange for allowing the Dreamers to remain in the U.S. & work toward eventual citizenship. Both Democrats & Republicans in Congress supported it & passed it, but Trump vetoed it. Since then, Democrats stopped supporting Trump's wall & Republicans stopped supporting the Dreamers. Trump's penchant for constant conflict caused this continuing mess.

Yep, Dems refuse to even come to the table and work out any kind of compromise.

They DID work out that compromise with Republicans in Congress & passed it together, with tentative approval from the White House. But Trump, as he often does, changed his mind at the last moment & vetoed it. Democrats & Republicans worked together thinking they had Trump's blessing. Both got blown out of the water after all that work & effort & time had been expended. Both parties are now more hesitant to work together because of Trump's unpredictability. The problem isn't the Democrats. The problem is Trump.
