Is this the next Starbucks? Who's in the right here? Will there be more demonstrations?

This is how he treats his own club members? By calling the police on them?? What an idiot.

Somebody's gonna get the sofa to sleep on......

Entirely dependent on the situation. If a player, for instance, takes an hour hours to play one hole and repeatedly refuses to progress or leave the premises, then they are trespassing and the club is well within its rights to call the police.

Starbucks case was openly BS. Need more info on this one.

Where is the evidence this had anything to do with their skin colour? Isn’t the implication that America is some fundamentally racist that no interaction between people of different skin colours can happen without it being the primary driving factor? Maybe you guys should do something about that, regardless of whether it’s an accurate description of your nation or a flawed perception being created by media and politics?

Domestic. Jordan and JJ are in the middle of a contentious divorce and Jordan is destroying the value of their jointly owned enterprise out of spite.

    well, it could be that.

I think with the historical treatment of black people in this country it's fair to question whether it was racism that led to cops being called on slow play. Talk about excessive. Now it might end not being racism, these guys could just be equal opportunity a-holes but it isn't like it would be surprising if it was racism.

Call the police? I wouldn't have thought so. They are club members and unless there is a rule saying that they can be ejected from the club premises for slow play, there cannot be any trespassing.

Much more appropriate to warn them that there will be a disciplinary proceeding within the club.

I don't disagree but there appears to be an assumption (sometimes unspoken) that it must be about racism, certainly a “presumed racist until proven otherwise” line. Nobody is going to be actually asking that question from a neutral starting point and nobody would listen to the accused if they wanted to challenge that assumption. This will go down in the minds of readers as another of those racist incidents regardless of what the reality of the situation actually was.

As I said though, if you really believe that it’s highly likely that any negative interaction between people of different racial backgrounds in the US is influenced by racism, wouldn’t that suggest that America has a major issue that nobody there seems to be doing very much to admit to or address? Isn’t it telling that when people do talk about racism, they’re normally only talking about racism they perceive coming from some group of others (often, ironically, defined on racial grounds)? It’s always “BLM activists are racist”, “White cops are racist”, “Republicans are racist” etc. Nobody seems to be willing to accept the possibility that "America is racist".

They got permission to play with 5 instead of 4. It isn't that unusual. From the video the owner's son appears to be an immature ******. Apparently his family bought to club last year.

Well, if that's true, it was a mistake.... you simply cannot play as fast with 5 as you can with 4, if you are trying to maintain a standard pace of play.

Frankly, if this situation HAS to be an "ism" (which it doesn't), it's probably as much sexism as racism.

Calling the cops is ridiculous.. Post 13 from bx4 would have been the best way to handle it... I never want to see cops on a golf course (acting as cops)

Wow! Finally a voice of logic and reason. You are a absolutely correct this is a case of an apparent violation of club rules not a violation of law. I say apparent based on your comment that there would need to be a club rule saying that slow play is subject to ejection. Yet as members unless the rules say otherwise they should have the benefit of a hearing within the club processes.

This is an internal club matter and since this is a private club the club administration behaved like Anus holes but there does not appear to be enough facts to say they behaved like racists.

Exactly.......and I'm gonna bet that these entitled, privileged black females were not exactly courteous when their slow play was brought to their attention

Funny how historical to you means the last 30 years of unfortunately high black crime and not the 200 plus years that proceeded it which included the rape, torture, murder and enslavement of tens of millions of black people by whites. History isn't on your side. Why don't you slink into a dark corner somewhere before you embarrass yourself further.

I'd listen. Admittedly either way I'd think they're obnoxious a-holes(not sure if we can curse on this board). You'd have to be to think this situation warranted the police, but I'm not saying it's definitely racism. Just wouldn't surprise me if it were and I don't really blame the women for thinking it was.

First of all I that wording makes it seem like I think any negative interaction between people of different races is racism. I don't. I think people of different races can disagree and it be just that, a disagreement. Secondly, racism is still a big problem in this country, there are plenty of people aware of it and it is being combated. Protests, awareness, legislation, education all of this has led to progress and we will continue to improve as we do in all things.

I think calling it equal does a disservice and I don't think America as a whole is racist. In fact I think generally the vast majority of people are decent folk from whatever walk of life. There are a few people who hate all black people and fewer still who hate all white people. I think a lot of us have biases, I think a lot of us are suspicious of others, but full out and out racism isn't the majority and is typically one sided. Are there liberals and minorities that hate white people, sure. But these are fringe groups and they typically aren't in positions of power. Unfortunately there is a large group, not a majority, but a large group of Republicans and conservatives that still refuse to let go of the hate in their hearts. I'd guess about a third. The Confederate flag waving types.

In what galaxy is it ok to call the cops on people for playing too slowly? Where’s the crime?

A golf club is private property, you can be kicked out at any time, for any reason. Although businesses rarely kick out people unless there's a valid reason, makes for bad publicity. If you remain on the premises after being told to leave, it's now trespassing and the owners might have to call the cops to forcibly remove you.

It's a mystery to me how you made it to adulthood without knowing the difference between private and public property.
