I'm not a homicidal maniac with daddy issues so I don't get this at all. However, I imagine if I was a homicidal maniac with daddy issues that I probably wouldn't be inviting people over to my place.

How in the world did this woman know about the headless cadaver and head on a plate in this guy's freezer?

I mean, I'm glad that she reported. I just can't figure out how she came about that information. She's probably traumatized for life.

Clearly, there is something more we should be doing for people with severe mental illnesses. I don't know what that would entail but fleshing that our sooner rather than later seems like a good idea.

    What do you think?

The SNIP you take from the story says:

"The caller said Meshey told her there was a 'cadaver' in one of the beds at the home along with a head stashed in a freezer, police said in a statement."

So, as with a lot of murders, it was "solved," because a participant needed to TELL someone. Oftentimes, it is a feeling of guilt that drives them, a need to confess this terrible secret to another human being.

When dealing with a psychopath, however-- which sounds, from the limited information, like a distinct possibility in this case-- the motivation is often the desire to brag, to let-in someone else, on how special an individual, the murderer is; it's definitely a more arresting conversation-starter than, "some weather we've been havin', huh?"

It's amazing, how much one can pick up, watching true crime case, or investigation, re-enactments.
