Personality is your relationship with other people. Character is your relationship with yourself.

It has been noted that in recent times too much stress has been placed upon personality and not enough on character.

The personality psychologists generally come to an agreement that most personality disorders are incurable. That is because they do not know what they are doing. They are attempting to fix character problems with talk therapy. That is not how to go about doing it. The correct ways to fix character problems is to overcome challenges or to submit to the will of God.

The people I've known who've fallen for this line have generally not undergone improvement. Far from it. They appear instead to have gotten more adept at psychological tricks while remaining bad people. My mother had a boyfriend who was seeing a psychiatrist for narcissistic personality disorder. He did not become better as a result of it. If anything he became worse.

So it appears that psychiatry does not know what it is doing on this matter. Religion however very much does know what it is doing. Religion teaches people actual values and actual character. And that makes it a far more viable force than personality psychology.

So it is time that character problems be seen for what they are and dealt with correctly. Character problems are not the same thing as personality problems. Once again, one is your relationship with yourself, the other is your relationship with other people. Fix your character, and then your relationship with other people will follow.

    Uh, sure......
I am sure your teaching position at University takes up much of your time.
However, your simplistic views are not founded in any solid basic facts.

How silly to condemn psychiatrists because your moms boyfriend wasn’t helped. Perhaps she could have been helped for why she stayed in such a relationship. There are millions who are helped, and psychologists do not “agree personality disorders are incurable” that is so ridiculous. Please don’t make up your own facts.
Secondly you tell people to fix their relationship with themselves and then you tell us at the same time to depend on the supernatural. God

That something is supernatural does not make it unreal. Reality is more than what you can see, feel and touch.

I have heard many claims that sociopaths and narcissists are incurably evil. This is irrational, it is cruel and it is wrong.

personality is the flavour, character is the substance.

ice-cream is the substance, strawberry is the flavour.

what matters, ALWAYS, is character. it's what parents ought to focus their energies on when raising kids, not personality. our childrens' personalities are theirs alone to develop and decide, not our business. our business is the substance.

I don't know what you have experienced, but I have written about what I have experienced. I think I have provided the link to you before. In my case I have had many experiences with less than a billionth chance of happening whose only possible explanations were religious. I started out as a hard-core atheist, but what I have seen and found out made me a believer.
