Does everything with the left have to begin and end with race? They diverted slightly for a while with their women's thing, and their gay thing, and their LGBTeieio+2√5 log10 thing, and even illegals and Muslims had their moments to shine. But the left doesn't want to let go of race and racism. They see it everywhere except in Oakland and Boston.

We can now add roads to such racist things as math, exit exams, milk, bullet proof glass, the names of astronomical bodies, classical music, the Oscars, cartoons, cereal, butter, syrup, tacos, wooden ships, statues, flags, books, TV shows, the OK sign, voter ID, a border wall, and on and on and on.

It gets tiring, it really does.

What if the universe itself is racist? o_O

Therefore, in a closed system entropic racism would always increase. You could have localised non-racist areas, but on a large enough time scale they would diffuse with the rest of the racist universe.

Well, there are red dwarfs, yellow dwarfs, white dwarfs and black holes, but I don't recall anything about brown stars. BTW, they've already said the term black hole is racist.

You do realize highways were built in black neighborhoods and destroyed them right? Like physically destroyed. Add in white flight and presto you got highways as a physical reminder of segregation and racism.

How could anyone with any brains ever vote for a Democrat again??? Democrats are the most racist bigoted individuals ever allowed to exist in this life.

He isn't wrong. Of course he is going after Texas that just wants to widen a highway instead of California where black communities were divided in half by highways or Robert Moses' Klan-like design of New York's infrastructure and public housing to isolate and alienate blacks.

...and yet.... next election cycle the majority of blacks will vote for Dems. Folks, my home town is a crap hole. It’s an embarrassment. It’s been run by Dems for 60 straight freakin years. around 60 years ago, during the time of the last republicans my town had nearly 2 Million residents. During WW2, this was the arsenal of democracy. My mom, god rest her soul, helped build B17s. Today my home town is a crap hole. Only 1/3 of the 2 million are left and they stay cause they can’t escape. A huge city by size standards, today vast areas of land
Are vacant wasteland.what used to be beautiful, well kept, family sized homes have been burned down, blown up, the city has been tearing down derelict blown up homes at a rate of over 5,000 per year for many years now with absolutely no end in sight.
......and in 2022 once again for the 62nd straight year they will vote for a Dem and they will expect something different. There’s not even any emotions anymore that makes one mad or angry or sad, it’s been so long it just is what it is.

Do you know anything at all about how this stuff works? Planners identify routes which involve the least property acquisition, the least excavation, and the least disruption to communities - and that's it. It's about the economy of those efficiencies, always. Sometimes these corridors are through rich areas (obviously, since highways have to reach and enter such areas), and sometimes they'll be poor areas. In a long highway, it might traverse many different socio-economic zones.

There is no cabal of evil civil engineers trying to steer highways through POC areas just for kicks, despite the fact that doing so would mean forfeiting economics and practicality for those kicks. Imagining that that is happening, is frankly berserk. Very ****ing weird. And that's before you factor in the very high percentage of civil engineers in America who are not white.

Wait a minute. Weren't we told yesterday that no funds were spent in black neighborhoods, now they have all the best highways? Once again the liberal argument changes with the wind.

And by the way, why don't you enlighten us on all the specific utopian black neighborhoods that were suddenly ruined by plopping a highway in the middle?

Hmmm....I thought Pete was in the homophobia business, but then he hasn't weighed in on what's built into the country's bridges yet.

They were also built in white neighborhoods JUST AS OFTEN and destroyed them.

White flight was caused by progressives.

Having an interstate go through the middle of your neighborhood does not equate to funds being spent in the neighborhood

LMAO, our infrastructure is now racist. Why don't Liberals just say "everything we dislike is racism, because we said so" and just be done with it.

You do not think they look at if the property acquisition is going to cost 5 times as much if one property is taken over another?

Sure, sure, I live in a city of 12,000 that is a split in half by a freeway running through it. Absolutely devastating... as evidenced by the $300K, low crime, clean neighborhoods on either side.

White privilege is the privilege of explaining how the failure of other groups is white's responsibility as minorities obviously lack agency to create success themselves. I honestly believe that white liberals are the most racist people in America, they do not believe any other group in America can succeed unless white saviors do the work for them.

It is the current browbeating technique used by the left. Apparently more meaningful browbeating techniques must have failed. Just ignore it like I do.

Yeah so that's not at all responding to what I said. Also, see below.

When you bulldoze a house and don't pay for a new one, you have both spent money destroying neighborhoods... and no money fixing them. In terms of your second question? I'm tired and hungry so this will have to do for now:

    "
Planners of the interstate highway system, which began to take shape after the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956, routed some highways directly, and sometimes purposefully, through Black and brown communities. In some instances, the government took homes by eminent domain.

It left a deep psychological scar on neighborhoods that lost homes, churches and schools, says Deborah Archer, a professor at the New York University School of Law and national board president of the American Civil Liberties Union. Archer recently wrote for the Iowa Law Review about how transportation policy affected the development of Black communities."
    https://www.npr.org/2021/04/07/984784455/a-brief-history-of-how-racism-shaped-interstate-highways

And they had financial tools to help recover from the lost of their homes. They had more wealth, more ways to move around. Black communities being more insular didn't have that. So when they lost something, they lost it.

And whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night.

Sweetie, where trees are is the result of racist policy decision making. Where public pools are is the result of racist decision making. I hate to say but all these things and more are the result of racist policy decision making.

Yeah that's more so because of the crackdown on 'crime' in the 1980's and 1990's. The basic idea was to arrest anyone for little crimes. This in turn disrupted economic development in those communities which led to gentrification. New property owners wanting to have more control over the area insisted upon having more police in the area, and basically that's how it went from there.

Honestly? This is what I hate about right wing mindsets. They're "you can pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality leads to racist ideas and thoughts more naturally than anything liberals come up with. At least liberals note there are reasons for things, that the causes can be fixed because they're laws. Conservatives on the other hand think if you failed, it's because of your own inabilities. On the race level, the entire race becomes unable to do anything, which is a pretty racist argument.
