We've only had official custody a few weeks—but we've been sitting with him a long time before that. It takes a village.

I doubt whether he cares about the queen. We don't bow down to "royalty" and they seem to have more sorted lives than "regular" people.

Speak for yourself and not for all of us. You sound like Obama with the apologies. He's gone, thank God...

You are HILARIOUS! The queen's own perverted son Charles told a woman who was NOT his wife that he wished to be her tampon! Is that gross or what? And he has 2 sons and threw his wife away for a Rottweiler who now thinks she's someone important when her claim to fame is that her relative was a mistress to a king?? LOL how sordid! Please never mention Trump again when Charles has brought such shame to Britain...then of course there's the picture of Elizabeth as a child giving the Nazi salute. How nice...actually The queen should be asking permission to meet with President Trump...

The UK should learn that it's illegal and immoral to ban people from other countries simply because of their religion. This Christianophobia must stop!

True. It was a very long election campaign. And then there was "The Apprentice". Was that what it was called? Did he ever do "Dancing With The Stars"?

The idea of dancing with the stars is to teach celebrities how to dance and then let them compete. Donald doesn't take direction well. He wouldn't be a good choice for that show.

I think the best thing about Dancing with the Stars is it helps people appreciate the work necessary to develop new skills. It shows them it's hard—even for people we think of as bigger than life. And that's a pretty good lesson for all of us watching amazing athletes or performers only after they have become so good that they make it look easy.

It helps people appreciate that those struggling to develop new skills aren't failures. Rather that struggle is evidence of courage to persevere and ambition to improve. Traits we'll need more of if we want to rebuild our economy.

Are you talking about the claim that 3 million illegal aliens voted?

Apparently it started as a tweet by someone called Gregg Phillips. According to his page on LinkedIn, Phillips is a former finance director of the Alabama Republican Party. He also served as executive director of the Mississippi Republican Party and was managing director of a super PAC that supported Newt Gingrich’s 2012 campaign for president. Other Republican support sites then picked it up, calling Phillip's tweet a report and claiming there's a report from Votefraud.org. Unfortunately this report from Votefraud.org does not and never did exist.

There's a couple of links at the end of the post. Politifact cites quite a few reports disproving the claim and gives some detail on its history going back to a flawed Harvard report in 2014. Apparently it started as an extrapolation of the figures based on the flawed report.

The other link is to the BBC Canada and US service which also finds the claim to be without foundation. It also notes Mr Trump himself tweeted the claim at the end of November, claiming he not only won the Electoral College vote in a landslide, but he also won the popular vote- or would have, if it wasn't for the illegal votes.

The BBC also notes that during his campaign, Mr Trump referred to a 2012 Pew Center on the States study that found 1.8 million dead Americans were still registered. The deceased, alleged Mr Trump, were still voting. The report, however, does not make any statements about this claim.

True. For some reason your post reminded of me of a TV series I watched showing how magicians do their tricks. I'd always thought of the magician's assistants as a bit of pretty set dressing, just eye candy. I had no idea how much skill the assistants need. In a lot of cases, they create the illusion and do the trick. Their timing has to be immaculate and their agility outstanding. The magician is the set dressing and eye candy. You can be looking straight at someone and not see them at all. We see what we expect to see- no more, no less, sadly.

I stopped watching the show after a few episodes because I like magic shows and didn't want to ruin them for myself.

Was that the one with Pen and Teller?

The key to successful stage magic is misdirection (distraction). Even when the goal is to entertain, the best way to trick someone is get them to look away from the action. Like Willie Keeler advised and Douglas McArthur implemented—"hit 'em where they ain't."

That's also how you know a politician is not on your side. In a game, in war or in policy. If someone's words to you don't inform, explain, or offer solutions—but instead distract. That person is working against your will and probably your interests.

    TO ALL MY AMERICAN FRIENDS!
I love Trump to bits as do millions of other Brits and we look forward to seeing him meet the Queen, so I hope you'll overlook the terrible insult to your President by those lefty Brits who don't want him here..:)

On 9/11 the Queen ordered her band to play the US national anthem as a gesture of support to all the heartbroken American tourists outside the gates of Buckingham Palace-

No. It wasn't Pen and Teller. It was a solo magician. And magic is sometimes literally smoke and mirrors!

Here's a quote you'll recognise: " If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself". Or you're playing using smoke and mirrors to hide the truth, as you pointed out.

But it has been investigated. Several times. By several people and organisations. There is no evidence that the claim is valid in any way. Either of the claims. Not the 3 million illegal alien voters or 1.8 million illegal-because-dead voters. They were "alternative facts", as Kellyanne Conway calls them.

That sounds like something Feynman may have said. Maybe Einstein.

I'm not sure I agree, there are many concepts that have complex inter-dependencies and while you certainly could lay out all the links in that chain so even a six year old might understand it—he might not still be six by the time you get through it all.

But yea, we often tell simpler stories to get the main idea across without getting lost in details. And to do that we have to lead the story away from questions that could demonstrate holes in the simpler message we're working on today. Sometimes we lie to communicate greater truths. You're right about that.

Someone may have once told you to keep the hair dryer away from the bathtub because water is a great conductor of electricity and you could die if it falls in. They lied to you. Water sucks at conducting electricity. Copper though is pretty good at it and may be more responsible for why your hair dryer should not be near what we inaccurately call bath water.

But explaining why... that's a harder conversation to have with a six year old. Better to use some smoke and mirrors and focus on the lesson for today—get the darn thing away from the tub.

LOL...your liberal utopia votes to ban a conservative president from meeting someone who matters little politically after your country voted conservative by choosing Brexit. Can't even make up your own minds what you believe, but that glass house appears unbreakable.

Bingo! It was Einstein, Taxpayer. :)

I wonder if Stephen Hawking could explain his brief theory of time to a six year old? I'm guessing Einstein could explain his theory of special relativity to one.

What happened in Detroit made some news and reinforces the idea that there has to be some foolproof voter ID made available so this sort of thing is unlikely to happen again.

We can see why many leftists would not want any change to the present system but the integrity of elections must come first. http://www.detroitnews.com/story/ne...cords-many-votes-detroits-precincts/95363314/

Voter fraud in this country is so commonplace that it's always expected; and they get up to all kinds of ingenious scams and subterfuges. I often wonder how much is actually uncovered, and how much isn't.

It looks like Trump will have to "frighten a little mouse under her chair" before meeting the queen. :hiding:

Don't worry, it's only the gigantic-chip-on-shoulders, self-loathing, inferiority-complex inflicted lefties who are always on the lookout for something to be outraged about, and then get all bitter and twisted when they can't find any. Then rest of us are perfectly normal!

Well I signed the petition to promote the visit of "the God Daddy" visit to the UK.

I have the greatest respest for Donald Trump, I wish we had a Politician like him in power in the UK. I shall support him against all oncomers as long as he follows the policies that he promised to implement during his campaign.

And so far Donald "the God Daddy" has done EXACTLY what he promised to do & God bless him for that .. A Politician that actually follows through on his promises... That is why I say... I wish we in the UK had Donald Trump as our Prime Minister.

I agree with you. There is so much about that man that is refreshing. He says things that most politicians never say ..... particularly not the pompous overly self-important American way of speaking/bullying. I like Trump more each day. The myth that Americans have been fed for the past 70 years might finally be coming to an end and if Trump improves the educational system in the US then the end is assured. I wish him and the American people the very best! :clapping:

Donald Trump is upsetting the established status quo in every democracy. People are simply tired of being
called 'racists', fascists, etc. for wanting to protect their human rights, freedoms, and cultures. These pressures being applied on the democracies should be challenged and we should be grateful there are people like President Trump who are willing to meet that challenge.

We can see from the riots and the restrictions on free speech who the 'Fascists' really are.
